With the Kama 6 leaving themselves vulnerable to a counter-attack, the old Manu tribe and Aurora are shaping up to play a critical role in tonight’s episode of Survivor: Edge of Extinction.

Often times in a Survivor season, it’s the first few votes after the merge that determine what direction the game is going to go in. Last week’s episode saw the Kama 6 alliance make a big move to vote out Joe, but the door is still open for another majority to form with 12 people left.

Let’s take a look at three stories to watch in episode 8 of Survivor: Edge of Extinction without including the potential injury that was teased in previews for tonight’s action.

1) Will David and Wentworth work together?

It has felt like there was a cold war brewing between these two returnees. The last episode turned that cold war into a real one, as they both voted for each other, but with no success. Can these two returnees put their differences aside and actually team up?

I think they both will come to the realization that they got played by the Kama 6. If the old Manu can rekindle their alliance, they have a shot at flipping this game. They now have three Hidden Immunity Idols to work with and a betrayed Kama member that would work as a great number.

2) Can Ron hold his power position?

If there’s a head to the Kama 6 alliance, it would be Ron. He’s the one who changed the vote to Joe, and as we saw in the preview for next week, Ron called himself the puppet master.

Although he masterfully controlled the first vote after the merge, his six-person alliance deceived the other six remaining castaways. So by no means does Kama possess a guaranteed majority. Whenever a player takes control of a vote like the Joe one, their threat level increases.

We’ve seen many players in Survivor make a big move in one Tribal Council, and then get voted out in the next one. For example, just look at the post-merge boots in Game Changers as a majority of them fall into that category. It will be interesting to see if Ron will share that same fate, or if he can divert his threat level and maintain control over a majority without becoming too overconfident.

3) Aurora is the key

Aurora who? Unfortunately, this castaway has been slighted with a poor edit, as the only thing we really know about her gameplay is her alignment with Joe. Now that he’s gone, Aurora is a free agent and could actually play a significant role in tonight’s Tribal Council.

Based on her pre-game interviews, it doesn’t seem like Aurora is the type of person to crawl back to Kama after she was duped into voting for Rick. It looks like Aurora will be forced to make new alliances, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she teamed up with old Manu to get revenge on the Kama 6.
