Just days before the premiere of Australian Survivor: Champions vs. Contenders (2019 edition), here are the 24 castaways set to compete for the title.

There are a variety of differences in the way CBS and Ten Network handle the US and AU versions of Survivor, respectively. However, at the micro-level details, one big thing that separates the two countries’ shows is that production for Australian Survivor likes to drip-feed info about their castaways slowly but surely, and that is evident with info about roughly half of 2019’s castaways coming on the week of the premiere.

News Corp Australia has released the full Australian Survivor 2019 cast, including a former player, another Olympic gold medalist, and a National Rugby League on the Champions tribe. Meanwhile, the Contenders have a VIP gaming manager, retired Australian Football League player, a police officer, and an ice cream maker; running the gamut of casting archetypes.

Here is your Australian Survivor 2019 cast, divided by the Champions and Contenders tribes:

Champions Tribe

  • Abbey: 28, AFL Premiership Winner
  • Anastasia: Memory Champion
  • Andrew: 53, NRL Athlete
  • David: 39, International Model
  • Janine: 53, CEO Powerhouse
  • Luke Toki: 33, People’s Champion (returning player)
  • Nova: 48, Former Politician, Olympian
  • PIa: 45, Actor
  • Ross: 53, Big Wave Surfer
  • Simon: 39, AFL Athlete
  • Steven Bradbury: 45, Olympic Gold Medalist
  • Susie: 44, Marathon Swimmer

Contenders Tribe

  • Andy: 47, Marketing Executive
  • Baden: 23, Student
  • Casey: 31, Educator
  • Daisy: 24, Travel Agent
  • Hannah: 27, Police Officer
  • Harry: 30, Ice Cream Maker
  • John: 28, Gold Miner
  • Laura: 31, Digital Marketing Manager
  • Matt: 29, High School Teacher / Pro Wrestler
  • Sam: 30, VIP Gaming Manager
  • Sarah: 45, Cleaner
  • Shaun: 31, Retired AFL Player

Many of these players on both tribes have stories to tell, including Sarah. She is a true survivor to the word after getting caught in the Sri Lanka Boxing Day tsunami that killed 227,898 almost 15 years ago. The hope, with so many known Australian athletes, actors and a returning player, is that these kinds of characters and their hardships come through in the edit.

Australian Survivor 2019 will premiere on Wednesday, July 24. We will be providing recaps and other features throughout the season as we await the return of CBS’ Island of the Idols this September.
