Survivor: Island of the Idols episode 1 synopsis hints fiery start to the game
Are the castaways of Survivor: Island of the Idols playing too hard, too early? The synopsis for episode 1 hints as much while sharing other information.
We’ve already seen a small amount of footage for the Survivor: Island of the Idols premiere, with a hint of who is the first player to join Boston Rob and Sandra Diaz-Twine on the island itself. Other footage includes the Vokai tribe getting to know each other, as well as part of the first combined reward and immunity challenge.
However, with 90 minutes to get to know the 20 castaways (as well as the two returning winners serving as mentors), there’s a lot that can happen. Just like we saw with David vs. Goliath, you never know when a plan to get out Nick Wilson can suddenly take a left turn with a bumpy trip back to camp on the choppy waters.
With so much in store, let’s take a look at the Survivor: Island of the Idols episode 1 synopsis, as provided by CBS (ellipsis cuts off the premiere airtime):
"One castaway gets fired up when learning a lesson on the Island of the Idols, where Boston Rob Mariano and Sandra Diaz serve as mentors in an all-new twist. Also, castaways question whether likability will prove to be a liability…"
Based on this synopsis, we have some rather compelling possibilities. I wouldn’t be surprised if the first player who arrives on the Island of the Idols will learn how to make a fire based on the “gets fired up” line. It logically makes sense because fire represents life in the game of Survivor, and now it’s required of half of the players who make the Final Four each season these days.
The idea that likability being a liability with 20 out of 20 players left in the game indicates that Island of the Idols is set to begin heavy gameplay from episode 1. The idea of a player being liked so much they could be voted out first is kinda crazy, but it all depends on how the first three days actually play out.
I guess we’ll have to wait and see when Survivor: Island of the Idols episode 1 premieres on Wednesday, September 25 at 8 p.m. ET. It will serve as a great introduction to a more promising show ahead of the Big Brother 21 finale.
