The people managing Survivor promotional material are getting a bit too loose-lipped for our liking, as an Island of the Idols episode 2 teaser teases lots.

Though the materials discussed are official teasers from the Survivor social media accounts, it still feels like enough is teased to provide an Island of the Idols episode 2 spoiler warning upfront.

We’ve been covering Survivor in a content-creating capacity since season 34, Game Changers, yet I can recall quite a few times when promotional material for an episode gave away way too much information before it appeared on television. Some were outright mistakes (releasing a press photo of Bradley Kleihege’s snuffed torch ahead of the episode’s release), while others are in the form of showing you who visits the Island of the Idols in the next episode.

An even worse example might be the bits of incomplete information being spread based on which avenues of the official Survivor channels you follow. For example, the official Facebook page hints at a player literally saying “YOLO!” (which makes sense, since episode titles are usually player quotes). However, it also straight-up tells you “a shocking blindside plays out during Tribal Council.”

This week, Survivor has one castaway saying "YOLO!" The tribes compete for immunity and the first reward of the season, and a shocking blindside plays out during tribal council.

So far, thanks to official Survivor social media accounts, we know that Kellee Kim will visit the Island of the Idols and face some sort of quiz or mental-based competition as a test of skills. We also know that we will encounter a “shocking blindside” during Tribal Council, meaning whatever is the expectation for who goes home in the episode should mean the opposite.

The Twitter account with a similar posting hints at additional episode 2 information, saying the losing tribe will be “humbled” on the importance of teamwork and will feel that reality at Tribal Council. It narrows the possibility of who will be the target at the moment of the Immunity Challenge, as well as those lacking in leadership or incapable of following others potentially being voted out.

We’ll provide a recap of Survivor: Island of the Idols episode 2 when it airs on Wednesday, October 2, and hopefully, these are just meta-level misdirects that keeps the fans guessing. I’d rather a lie than giving away an episode’s truth early.
