Season 50 of Survivor is going to see three return players from season 48. While I think that might be a few too many, there’s one player I think they should’ve left off the roster in favor of some other survivors. I really liked Kyle and think he represents season 48 quite well. However, I think his win is too fresh to bring him back for season 50. Instead, there are three other players I think would’ve been a better choice for such an iconic season of Survivor.
I am very glad they are bringing back both Kamilla and Joe. I really think they will be a great addition to the new season. After watching their gameplay, I think they played very different games, while still making it all the way to the end. And I cannot wait to see how they play the game around other Survivor players who have done this before. It actually would have made perfect sense to only have these two representing the season.
Now, if you really are going for three season 48 players, then I think Kyle should have waited for a future season if they really wanted to bring him back. So, who else should have been chosen to play season 50 alongside Joe and Kamilla?
Shauhin Davari
Shauhin is definitely one of the people I think should’ve been brought back. I think he played a brilliant game, but I think he just got outmaneuvered by Kyle. I think the reason that Kyle won is because he helped to get Shauhin out of the game. But that does not take away from the fact that overall, Shauhin is a very interesting character. He has a lot of personality and a story to tell. And he knows how to play the game. He could have been magical in a season filled with other returning players.
Star Toomey
I would have loved for Star to make a return in season 50. When season 48 first started, I wasn’t really sure about Star. There was something about her that I did not connect with. However, over time, I really started to like the way she played the game. She was overly honest and had no problem being faithful to people, while also knowing that this was a game or that only one person could win. I think bringing her back in a season with all returning players would have given her a chance to once again shine. It’s disappointing that she isn’t getting another chance to play, but hopefully she makes a return in a future season.
Mary Zheng
I think Mary proved that even someone at the bottom of the game can survive and thrive. The idea of having her play against other returning Survivor players would have been amazing to see. The fact that we don't get another season of her scheming and playing a strategic game is actually disappointing. I would have loved to see her trying to build alliances from day one, and whether or not it would shift how things played out for her. Too bad we won't get to see if she and Joe could ever be aligned.
