5 Survivor 48 players we need to see on Survivor 50

We know one player from Survivor 48 will likely be in the Survivor 50 cast, but who will it be?

Survivor 48 has been an interesting rollercoaster of a ride so far. Most of that is due to the unique personalities of this season's cast. In fact, I would say that this is one of the stronger casts of the last few seasons.

With such a strong cast, I realized some of these players deserve another shot at the game. So what better time to have some of the Survivor 48 players return than during the upcoming 50th season, Survivor 50?

While they may be newcomers to the Survivor family as players, there are quite a few members of the cast who have that special something that would make them a great addition to season 50. From the way they are playing the game to the attitude that they have showcased on screen, there are five players from Survivor 48 who I really think would be great as part of the cast of Survivor 50.

Survivor Smack Talk
“Survivor Smack Talk” – It’s double trouble when an unforeseen twist puts pressure on the castaways during the immunity challenge. Then, there’s nowhere to hide when a pivotal tribal council takes shape and decides who will make the jury, on SURVIVOR, Wednesday, April 9 (8:00-9:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+(live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*.

David Kinne

At first, I wasn't sure what to think about David Kinne. He is an unapologetic milk drinker who seems a bit cocky, but he also revealed some unexpected depth when opening up about what life is really like for him back home. And while he might be a stuntman, that doesn't mean he is some "dude bro." Instead, it is clear that he has an idea of how he wants to see the game play out, and it is one that some might not agree with.

The thing about David is that he wants strong players to win the game. And of course, he wants that strong player to be him. The thing about what he wants is that he seems to be forgetting the fact that Survivor is not just about strength and being a beast at the competitions. It is also about the social aspect of the game.

David has played an interesting social game, because he does have an alliance and it is working for him. But the way he is playing is fascinating and it makes me want to see how he would take the way he wants to play Survivor and have it translate in a season with players who have already played the game before.

Would David's gameplay change once on an island with other former Survivor players? Would he still be about the strength over the social and more strategic aspects of the game? It would be interesting to find out.

The Get to Know You Game
“The Get to Know You Game” – Eighteen new castaways will be abandoned on the breathtaking islands of Fiji, where they must battle it out for the $1 million prize. Tribes must claim victory in the first challenge of the season to earn essential camp supplies. Then, first impressions go a long way as tribemates quickly make connections and size each other up, on the two-hour season premiere of SURVIVOR, Wednesday, Feb. 26 (8:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on

Joe Hunter

As soon as Joe Hunter made it clear that he was willing to be a support person for Eva Erickson, I knew that I wanted to see more of Joe. Not only is he a fire captain, but this man is also a father, and it shows. He has played a truly interesting game that has showcased his heart as much as his strength.

The fact that he has what it takes to be a physical threat in the game has not detracted from the fact that he is also a team player. He is willing to put himself out there when he feels like it is the right thing to do. His bond with Eva has been a big part of his game, and while it may have painted a target on his back, it has not changed the way that he is playing Survivor.

Joe is the type of player that I would love to see playing against other Survivor greats. I think he would form interesting alliances and would actually play as much of a physical game as a more psychological game. I just think he has showcased so much of himself throughout the season that he deserves another chance to play the game.

Plus, I have to say that the type of game Joe has been playing in season 48 might just come in handy if he were to be on an island of returning players.

Mitch Guerra

I think Mitch Guerra's story is one that we need to see more of. And as a player, he has definitely brought both strength and ingenuity into the game.

Mitch has worked to create connections in the game, and even though he lost his biggest ally early, he didn't stop fighting for his place on Survivor 48. Instead of letting himself get taken out of the game, he has worked to keep himself safe, used advantages that he has earned or found, and even just worked to convince people to use him with their votes. But at the same time, he is clearly trying to play a strategic game, with plans to take out other players and a lot of fight when it comes to challenges.

The thing I think that would make Mitch a good addition to Survivor 50 is the fact that he is truly playing the game. He is not being played, even if other people think he is, and he is not lying down and letting other people decide his fate without a fight. Maybe it is me, but that makes him the kind of player we want to see back in the future. Plus, he has a story to tell, and we want to hear it.

Humble Traits
“Humble Traits” – A frantic idol hunt could save or ruin one castaway’s game. A castaway’s quick decision making must outlast the test of time when three castaways are sent on a journey. Then, castaways take a leap of faith in their second immunity challenge where they must trust their tribemates to beat out their competition, on SURVIVOR, Wednesday, March 5 (8:00-9:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME

Mary Zheng

Mary Zheng outlasted every single member of her original tribe, even with being a target more than once. In fact, she had to play her Shot in the Dark to save herself, and it worked. So there is something to be said about the way that she plays Survivor, especially when considering the future and seasons featuring returning players.

There is no denying that Mary would be a great addition to Survivor 50 for a lot of reasons, including the fact that she is both a strategic player and a strong one. She can handle things like puzzles and even the more physical challenges in a way that showcases her overall strength. With that comes a fierce competitor who would likely do really well against other former players.

I think Mary is the type of player who understands the game and can make the game work for her. Because of that and her ability to form alliances and reconfigure those alliances on the fly, I definitely feel like she is one to watch out for, especially if she is willing to return to the game in the future.

Star Toomey

Star Toomey has played a very interesting game of Survivor. She has not hidden any of her actions, and this includes her hunt for the idol. She did try to make alliances by sharing with certain people that she had found the Beware Advantage. While those potential alliances didn’t really pan out for her, somehow she was able to maintain her place in the game, even with people knowing what she had in her pocket.

On top of having found that advantage, when someone else actually solved the puzzle and got that idol out for her, she gave it to them (that was Eva by the way). In a lot of ways, it is clear that she is doing what she can to cement her game with goodwill, but she’s also willing to fight and play.

Star is one of those players who really went hard on this game early on, but she has also figured out a way to play the game where she’s not bringing too much attention her way. She’s doing what she needs to do to stay in the game, while also not painting a target on her back. It’s this reason why I truly believe she is someone we could see in the future.

I could easily see Star being part of Survivor 50, just because of the way she plays the game. She has the ability to be messy while also being strategic. She is a solid player when it comes to the challenges, and yet she also understands that you do need an alliance to stay in the game. Basically, it just feels like Star understands Survivor and would be a solid addition to any future season.
