The massive cast for Survivor 50 included six old school players, six new school players, and 12 new era players. With just five players remaining going into the season finale, Aubry Bracco is the only non-new era player left in the game, and she has a long history of excellence on the show.
She's joined by Tiffany Ervin, Joe Hunter, Jonathan Young, and Rizo Velovic in the Final Five. This is Aubry's fourth run at the title of Sole Survivor, and it's the third time she's finished in the top five.
She finished second in Kaoh Rong, fifth in Game Changers, and 14th on Edge of Extinction. Because of her long history in the game and her stellar strategic play over the various seasons, she has to be the sentimental favorite to win. This is Survivor, though, and sentimentality won't be enough.
This jury seems more likely to reward overall gameplay, but her past reputation may help her if she can maneuver her way into the Final Three when everyone knows she's a threat to win. Of the nine jury members so far, only two are from the new era, so if Aubry can make it to the Final Tribal Council, her mere presence may sway some votes from the six Old and New School players.
Can Aubry Bracco win Survivor 50?
While there is certainly a path for Aubry to win Survivor 50, it will not be an easy path. Her four remaining opponents are fully aware of her history and how dangerous she can be, and at this point in the game, there is nowhere to hide.
Rizo is guaranteed a spot in the Final Four with his idol. He will certainly play it at the next Tribal Council. That cuts the targets down from five to four, and one of those will have won immunity. While it is possible she could win the immunity challenge, she only won individual immunity once in her four seasons.
Unless she pulls off a miracle, she will be one of three on the block for the first vote during the finale. Her history in the game won't do her any favors because no one is going to want to sit next to her at the finale.
Joe is absolutely no threat to win because of his lack of overall gameplay this season, so he is an easy choice for someone to bring along to the Final Three. That leaves Jonathan, Tiffany, and Rizo as her main threats.
Jonathan has played a pretty good game throughout the season and probably has the most juice among the jury members. Tiffany has also been solid but hasn't been involved in any flashy moves, though she's been more aggressive later in the game.
Rizo is a wild card. No one knows how smart and strategic he is because no one has seen his gameplay in season 49. He may not get as much credit as he deserves for his part in his alliance with Cirie Fields and Ozzy Lusth. He's been more subtle, so it is unknown how the jury feels about him.
The next vote all depends on if Aubry can find someone willing to play with her for one more day. If she is perceived as the biggest threat to win, she will be gone first. Even if she makes it to the jury, there is no guarantee she will win; for this season, it feels like the jury will reward great gameplay. She has not had her strongest game. She's gone most of the season without a strong ally. She's tried, but it's been a rough go this time around for her.
If she makes it to the Final Three with Joe and Rizo sitting beside her, there is a good chance she could win. If either Jonathan or Tiffany sits next to her, she will have to convince the jury she played a better game. That won't be easy.
Aubry can win, and it would be great to see such an excellent player get her due. A win would move her into the top 10 players of all time. At this point, however, a win seems unlikely, and she seems destined to join Cirie and Ozzy as one of the best players to never win.
