One Survivor 50 player has a major finale advantage—and a massive target

There's only one Survivor 50 player in the Final 5 who isn't a new era player. That comes with opportunity and risk.

We're down to the Final 5 of Survivor 50, and there's only one player who is not from the new era in the running for the $2 million prize and immense bragging rights. Of course, I'm talking about Aubry Bracco.

I'm sure Aubry is quite happy that she won the battle with Cirie Fields for the last non-new era player in the game. She's in a tremendous position to win Survivor 50.

Heading into the finale, Aubry should have a massive advantage over the other players simply because of her story. She finished runner-up to Michele Fitzgerald on Survivor: Kaoh Rong, which was the 32nd season of the series. It aired 10 years ago. She never got closer to winning the $1 million prize than she did that season.

In her fourth time playing, Aubry has had her back against the wall since the season started. She was outside the majority alliance basically the whole game until she helped flip two important votes: Ozzy Lusth and Cirie Fields. Aubry can't take credit for those moves, but her name has been brought up for almost every vote since the merge it feels like. Somehow, Aubry has been able to keep the target off her back.

With just two more challenges left, Aubry has to survive one important vote and fire-making to end up in the Final 3 with an incredible opportunity as the only old school player left in the game.

Inconceivable Aubry

Why Aubry Bracco is the favorite to win Survivor 50

While some of the other players have better connections on the jury this season, Aubry, by nature of having played Survivor four times in the last 11 years, is more familiar to the rest of these players. We all know who Aubry is, how she has played in the past, and more. They don't have to leave her game up to our imagination.

For the rest of the players, it's much more challenging. No one has seen Rizo Velovic play Survivor. Tiffany Ervin was one of the best players on Survivor 46, but she didn't quite make it to the end. Joe Hunter played a very specific game on Survivor 48, and he tried to play the same way on Survivor 50 to varying results.

All of those players have to prove they played a better game than Aubry. Right now, Jonathan Young is the only one who probably has a claim. He has a lot of allies on the jury, so he's probably the most threatening to Aubry right now. I think he could get votes from Chrissy Hofbeck, Coach, and Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick right now. He would have to do a lot more to win over the rest of this jury.

Aubry seems like she has an upper hand with her jury management. The way I see things, though, Aubry probably has votes locked up with Cirie, Ozzy, Rick Devens, Christian Hubicki, and potentially Emily Flippen. That's five players on an 11-member jury. One more vote from any of the others and Aubry wins Survivor 50.

The problem for Aubry? Everyone knows she's the favorite to win Survivor 50

And, that's why she will have a massive, massive target on her back heading into the next two immunity challenges. If Aubry loses, they have to vote her out. Rizo is already a lock for the Final 4 with his immunity idol. That leaves Joe, Aubry, Tiff, and Jonathan.

Of that group, no one is more dangerous than Aubry.

Rizo has played a good game. He's dangled an idol for the second season in a row, and he's partially responsible for the two game-changing moves, getting rid of Ozzy and Cirie. Tiffany has been in a similar spot as Aubry, but she's won a few challenges, survived, and played a good game. Joe has been a challenge beast, and he's been a key vote at times. Jonathan has been in the tightest, clearest alliances in the game. He's made big moves, but he hasn't been able to get that signature moment yet.

If there was ever a time for the four other players to join forces to stop one player from winning immunity, it's right now. These last two challenges are basically worth $2 million for one player. Someone has to stop Aubry, or she's all but guaranteed to win Survivor 50.

Will they do it? We'll find out during the Survivor 50 finale on Wednesday, May 20, on CBS and Paramount+!
