Sandra Diaz-Twine wonSurvivor: Pearl Islandsback in season 7 and then became the first two-time champion after taking home the title once more in season 20,Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains. And when the show brought together 20 former winners to compete for a chance to become the second two-time winner (or in Sandra’s came, first three-time winner) in the show’s history, Tony Vlachos took home the win, adding that $2 million prize to his earnings from his win back onSurvivor: Cagayan.

While season 14 took us to Fiji for the first time, it wasn’t until season 33,Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X, that the show filmed its first seasons at the sites that would become home to the series for the next 10+ years.

Prior toSurvivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans—and not includingAustralian Survivor: Australia v The World—the person with the most days played isBoston Rob Marianowith 152 days played under his belt. As Cirie Fields and Ozzy Lusth returned this season to play their fifth season (a milestone only Rob had reached previously), they managed to increase their own ranking, but not quite dethrone theSurvivorGodfather. Ozzy is now tied for second most number of days played with Parvati Shallow (again, not including AvTW) at 149 days played, with Cirie sitting at fourth with 144 days played.

Survivorpremiered more than 26 years ago on May 31, 2000 when CBS tested out a social experiment by bringing together 16 strangers to compete for $1 million in Borneo. Who had a pet snake on the show?
Back on season 7,Survivor: Pearl Islands, everyone’s favorite tie-dyed pirate Rupert Boneham “adopted” a pet snake out in the jungles of Panama and named him Balboa. Unfortunately, on episode 6—aptly titled, “Me and My Snake”—Rupert woke up after his first Tribal Council to find Balboa was no longer with us. But, the merged tribe later named themselves "Balboa" in honor of Rupert's pet.

What was the first season to use the Final Four fire-making twist?
Most people remember Chrissy Hofbeck being cheated out of a win thanks to Ben Driebergen getting new life in the game with the official introduction of the final Four Fire-making twist more than anything else fromSurvivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers. This was the first instance that the event became a permanent fixture at Final Four rather than the past traditional vote. But the first time we ever saw the fire-making duel was back inSurvivor: Palauwhen the Ulong tribe was decimated down to two players and Stephenie LaGrossa and Bobby Jon Drinkard were forced to go against each other in fire to see who would stay in the game as the only one-person tribe inSurvivorhistory.

How many contestants have playedSurvivor?
After 50 seasons, with approximately 16-20 players per season, we’ve seen a total of 751 players on our screen over the last 26 years. Of course, this number will rise again onceSurvivor 51comes into play, but for now, the show has kept this number steady for the past year thanks toSurvivor 50being all returning players.
