All-star seasons of Survivor are usually the worst-kept secrets in reality TV. Players know each other and have a history with each other, which leads to conversations and leaks that new cast seasons have less of. There are always interactions and clues, but some tell more than others.
It seems Survivor has begun making major casting decisions, and potential season 50 castaways have been letting it be known on social media. If rumors are to be believed, Jeff Probst, the Survivor showrunner, is not even in on the final cuts. Whatever the case, fans have immediately grabbed their pitchforks as their favorites have implied their casting decision all over social media.
Carolyn Wiger is casting gold

Carolyn Wiger was a finalist on Survivor 44, and she completely won over fans hearts. Her quirky, unique personality and take on life helped people relate to her. Carolyn was unapologetically herself, which made her easy to root for. In a game about lying and deceiving, she was refreshingly herself, with all her flaws and quirks and emotions on the table.
When Carolyn competed on another reality show, The Traitors, her performance only grew her fanbase even larger. She not only made it far in the game, but her signature style once again charmed reality fans. Leaning into her quirkiness while still staying true to herself, Carolyn became a role model for all those out there who feel a little different, or feel they don't quite fit in.
Not only does her personality endear her to fans, but she makes for fantastic television as well. The soundbites, unpredictable reactions, and over-the-top behavior make for rivoting moments in the game, and that is perfect for production. She is true casting gold; a reality personality star that can boost the entertainment value of any season.
It is these reasons that had fans clammering to get Carolyn cast for Survivor 50.
Carolyn chimes in on Survivor 50 casting

Unfortunately for Survivor and The Traitors fans, Carolyn threw ice cold water on the idea she will appear on season 50. One scroll through her X replies, and it is evident that she was not cast. Not only did she respond to a Jeff Varner post about not making the cast and filming a docuseries in Ecuador, but she also has answered questions directly.
Multiple fans reached out saying they wish she would be on the season, or asking her straight up if she was cast, and she pretty bluntly told them no. She also made some emotional remarks regarding other cast members who made sarcastic references to casting. Her situation seems pretty cut and dry.
😭😭😭😭🙏 thank you!!!

Thoughts on the decision
Unless this is some incredibly elaborate April Fools Day hoax, it seems pretty clear that Carolyn is not cast on the season, and she is not particularly happy about it. Worst of all, according to trusted Reality TV spoiler account, "Reality TV News/Updates", it was not even Jeff making the decision but rather CBS themselves.
All were CBS decisions. CBS put its foot down and made them cut a bunch of New Era people yesterday. According to Redmond, there's only 3 left.

I can understand the idea of leaning into well-known names and focusing on some older-era cast members instead of a new era focus. There are some big personalities and iconic players out there to cast. However, deciding to eliminate a refreshing character like Carolyn seems like a massive swing and miss.
Carolyn is everything you want in a cast member and has had a pretty good track record of success. Skipping over her is a massive missed opportunity for the show, the network, and us as Survivor fans.
