Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans is coming to an end on Wednesday, May 20, and Jeff Probst and co. are about to deliver an epic conclusion to the biggest season in Survivor history.

The Survivor 50 finale will be the longest episode of the season since the season premiere. CBS announced in the press release that the finale will feature a three-hour runtime, up from the 90-minute and two-hour episodes we've seen for almost all of the season.

The Survivor 50 finale, titled "Reverse the Curse," will air from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+. So, plan accordingly! Don't expect to see the winner revealed at 9:30-10 p.m. We likely won't find out the winner until much later in the episode.

Here's the synopsis of the episode:

On that note, CBS also has something very special in store for the Survivor 50 finale.

Survivor 50 finale features the first live reunion since 2019

For the first time since 2019, the Survivor finale will feature a live, in-person reunion. We'll see the winner of Survivor 50 announced on stage in Los Angeles, just like we did for many, many Survivor winners over the years.

A few months ago, Probst revealed the results of one fan vote, and the fans chose the live reunion and winner reveal as opposed to what's been happening since Survivor's new era began in 2021. Lately, we've been watching the winner revealed at Final Tribal Council in Fiji before having a mini-reunion with the jury and finalists. This time, no one knows, aside from the players who were there and production, who actually wins Survivor.

It's going to be really interesting to see just what happens during the live reunion and if it's as good as fans remember. It's unclear if all 24 players from this season will be in attendance, but I'm guessing most of the cast will be there.

In the last few years, CBS and Survivor have experimented with some new formats for the Survivor finale. In the past, the Survivor finale was always a three-hour episode capped off by a live finale. The last time this happened was during season 39, prior to Survivor: Winners at War.

Winners at War was planned to be a live finale and reunion just like other seasons, but the COVID-19 pandemic pushed it to Zoom. It was still live, but no one was allowed to get together and celebrate Tony Vlachos' big win.

Since Survivor 41, we've had three-hour finales with the winners revealed out in Fiji. The only exception was Survivor 47, which was a two-part finale. Instead of the three-hour finale, CBS split the finale into two parts of two hours each, so four hours total.

I liked that, honestly, but there's something very nostalgic about the three-hour Survivor finale and live reunion. I can't wait to see it all unfold for Survivor 50 on Wednesday night!

We'll share more updates about the Survivor 50 finale and winner of the biggest season in history as we find out! Stay tuned!
