Survivor 48 is back for a new episode on Wednesday, March 26. While we've seen some clips and teasers for episode 5, "Master Class of Deception," none have hit as hard as the teaser trailer CBS has been showing during the first week of the 2025 NCAA Tournament, featuring Jeff Probst crying before or after one of the challenges during the episode.
The clip was also shared on the Survivor Instagram, and we shared it below, so you can watch Survivor's fearless leader shed some tears about the episode.
In the teaser, there are a few players who encourage another player, although we don't see them. It's just a voiceover. Mary Zheng tells the player to "tell yourself you can do it." Jeff mentions "frustration really setting in." Then, in the final clip, we see Jeff holding back tears and trying to regain his composure.
"Wow, this has never happened before," Jeff told the players.
In the video, CBS also claims, "In 48 seasons, there has never been an episode of Survivor like this."
Just when you thought you'd seen it all on this show, there's more left to see.
There's been a lot of speculation about what this moment is or what this is in relation to. I don't know if I feel comfortable sharing a prediction when I truly have no idea if it's related to an injury or something like that. It seems most of the fans online think this is about a panic attack that a player is going to have during the episode or during the challenge.
And, that sure seems like how this is going. On Wednesday, Survivor also posted some screenshots of the fan reactions on some pictures from the episode.
Earlier this week, Survivor also shared a clip from Survivor 46, which featured Survivor 46 winner Kenzie Petty talking about how she'd been getting up in the middle of the night to help Ben Katzman with his night terrors and anxiety attacks he'd been experiencing on the show. It was a very powerful moment on the show.
Again, it all seems to be pointing toward a conversation related to the mental health of the Survivor players. I don't know how much more I can add at this point, but we'll definitely be tuning in to see this moving episode.
We'll share more information about the new episode after we watch!
