After 48 seasons, it's still shocking that Jeff Probst, CBS, and the Survivor team are still making history with new events, but that's what is happening for the Survivor 49 premiere!
A few days after Probst revealed that two players were kicked off the show right before filming started, which was a first for the show. Now, Probst teased a new Survivor experience for the Survivor 49 premiere on Instagram, according to TV Insider.
In the video, Probst revealed that, for the first time in the show's history, the team has created an experience for fans to enjoy Survivor in cafe form, and it's called the Survivor Ultimate Fan Cafe.
"We are launching the ultimate Survivor fan cafe experience, opening soon in Boston," Probst says in the video. "We were inspired to create a real-life destination where fans could come together and celebrate everything they love about Survivor. So, if you're in Boston this fall, make sure and check it out."
The event launches in Boston on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at The Greatest Bar, which was actually where Boston Rob was a bartender. It's currently owned by the Fairweather family. If that name sounds familiar, it's because Shannon Fairweather is a new player on the Survivor 49 cast. So, this event has a lot of Survivor tie-ins. It's where Boston Rob used to work, and it's owned by the family of a new player? The opportunity is just too good to pass up, obviously!
Based on the Instagram post, it looks like there's going to be a waitlist for the even, obviously, so if you're interested, you better sign up soon!
It's not just fans who are excited for this, either. Charlie Davis, the runner-up from Survivor 46 who is also playing Survivor 50, commented, "Can I get on the waitlist please?"
One of our favorite Survivor players of all time, Tyson Apostol, asked if the "Applebee's bacon bourbon burger" will be on the menu. I mean, it should be!
As for what to expect, it looks like it's a very food-centric event with Polynesian-inspired dishes from chef Becky Brown. According to the report, all of the dishes have Survivor-inspired names like Campfire Carnitas and New Era Laksa Noodles. Then, there will also be games, like challenges, for guests to play, and much more.
We've seen a lot of pop-ups like this around the country, like the Survivor Beach Drops. Those fan events usually brought in former contestants for meet and greet opportunities, and they were tied into casting. Fans could audition for new seasons. They also got a chance to try out some of the challenges these players have performed over the years in a more fun, less stressful setting.
It's unclear if the Survivor Ultimate Fan Cafe will be a lot like that or not, but we'll just have to find out next month when it opens!
Stay tuned for more information about the event, how long it will be open, and more!
