Kyle Fraser breaks down in tears over a huge decision in Survivor 48: 'I don't want to hurt people'

Kyle Fraser is one of the heavy favorites to win Survivor 48, but he's struggling to make the moves in new clip from Survivor 48 episode 11, "Coconut Etiquette."

Kyle Fraser is running out of time to make a very big decision, one that will likely shape Survivor 48. If he makes the right call, he can easily win $1 million. If he makes the wrong move, he's probably going to be going home.

Will he stay loyal to his number one ally, Kamilla Karthigesu? Or, will he turn on his alliance, the majority alliance, and betray Eva Erickson, Joe Hunter, and Shauhin Davari? That's the big question.

In the new sneak peek at Survivor 48 episode 11, "Coconut Etiquette," Kyle explained the dilemma and started to sob while talking through the different options.

"At this point, my hands are tied," Kyle said. "There's no moral escape for me. At one point in this game, either in this vote or the next, I will either be betraying Kamilla, or I'll be betraying Joe and Eva and Shauhin."

"I always can find the path to get to where I need to go," Kyle contined. "And, probably for one of the first times in my life, if not for the first time, with the biggest stakes of my life, every single path harms someone. And, I don't want to hurt people, even if it's for the benefit of my family."

This is a classic Survivor dilemma for one or two players every season. Either you stick with the person you started the game with. In this case, that's Kamilla. Or, you flip on them, and go with the players who you think you can get you to the end. It helps if you can beat them, and that's why I think Kyle's decision is actually easier than it seems to be.

Sure, Kyle is going to hurt someone he cares about, and that's hard in any aspect. It's hard to deal with your actions directly causing harm to another person. If Kyle makes the move he needs to make, one of his friends in the game will be harmed by that move. It's understandable that it would be a tough decision for Kyle. If it wasn't, he would probably have something seriously wrong with his ability to feel empathy.

If Kyle wants to win the game, there's only one move that can be made, though, and that's to remove the players in front of him who have a better case to win $1 million. There aren't many players like that, but there is one. If Joe Hunter gets to the end with or without Kyle, he's going to win $1 million. The perception is that he and Eva have been controlling the game. He's won three individual immunity challenges. To get to the end, he'll probably have at least one or two more, which would tie the all-time record. If he wins three more immunities, he will set the record.

Deep down, I think Kyle knows the move is to blindside Joe, which is why I imagine this is hard for him. If he's thinking about blindsiding Kamilla, the one vote he really needs to win Survivor 48, then he's completely lost his way.

Staying with the majority alliance guarantees you the top four and a chance to make fire to get to Final Tribal only if no one in that alliance flips. Shauhin, Joe, and Eva should probably be doing the math to eliminate the other big threats by working with Kamilla and Eva. Maybe they are loyal through and through, but that would be just asking to be voted out, which would make Kyle's move even bigger!

The one person Kyle can't get rid of is Kamila. He can't ever turn his back on her, honestly, because I think that ruins his story. To be able to say at Final Tribal, "We made a pact on Day 1 to get to the end any way we could, together, and we did," that's the perfect end for Kyle. He's benefited from Kamilla, but he's been the one in the majority alliance steering votes away from her, using her strategic prowess to navigate the game, and then winning some challenges on occasion. It's going to take a big push for whoever wins, but Kyle can do it unless he overthinks it.

I'm fully expecting to see Kyle take his chance to get rid of Joe in one of the next two episodes. Will it already be too late, though? We'll see!
