Survivor 48 is all about the heartfelt moments so far! Following Eva Erickson and Joe Hunter's bond and alliance forming in the season premiere, it looks like another heartfelt moment is on the way in the second episode of the season. This time, it involves Mitch Guerra of the Civa tribe and Jeff Probst.
CBS just shared a new sneak peek of Survivor 48 episode 2, "Humble Traits," which airs on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. In the sneak peek, the three tribes arrive at the immunity and reward challenges. As he so often does, Jeff Probst asked the players a few questions about the first few days in the game. Mitch, who has is the first player in Survivor history with a speech impediment, answers a question about the toolkit and how it improved life around camp.
"It was so huge for us, the fact that we were able to start fire immediately," Mitch told Jeff. "Honestly, we had a really good couple of days because of it."
Jeff, then, asked Mitch, "When you're struggling, do you want help from someone? Or, is part of it to let you finish when you're ready to finish?"
"The hope is that everyone would just kinda hang in there for me and just give me the opportunity to finish my sentence," Mitch responded. "But, I'm thankful you asked that because people just naturally just want to help others, and sometimes we don't feel comfortable asking that."

Heading into the game, we knew Mitch was the first player with a speech impediment in Survivor history. Representation is so important, and Survivor has made great strides in that area over the years. In addition to making Mitch feel more comfortable in the game, giving Mitch a platform to share how he wants to be treated in the game and in life could have a huge impact on others tuning in for Survivor 48.
One of the things we can all appreciate about the more recent seasons of Survivor, especially, is how the show treats situations like this. In a lot of instances, the players get a chance to explain themselves, advocate for themselves, or just share more information about the things that they are going through or have gone through in life.
Treating people how you want to be treated is good, but treating people how they want to be treated is even better. So, we have to give props to Jeff and the Survivor team for this moment.
I also have to shine a light on Mitch, too! He's one my picks to win Survivor 48 after the premiere. He just seems so ready for the moment.
