On the eve of Survivor 50’s final episode, a different kind of Survivor news hit the social media timeline: a new Survivor-related documentary is coming! While not officially affiliated with CBS or the show, fans will get to see several (more than seven!) former Survivor contestants reunite in a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
This documentary, called Surviving Reality, was filmed in Ecuador between 2025 and 2026. According to its Instagram page, it will follow "former reality TV contestants as they journey into Ecuador’s Amazon jungle for cultural immersion, medicine and truth."
This project was spearheaded mainly by Reiman Bledsoe—known to Survivor fans as Spencer Bledsoe, but who started going by his middle name a few years back. Bledsoe competed on Survivor: Cagayan, where he finished fourth, and then in Survivor: Cambodia - Second Chances, where he was co-runner-up. Bledsoe’s Survivor reputation was mainly as a strategic powerhouse, but also as a robot devoid of emotions.
Bledsoe was also considered to return for Survivor 50, but after being dropped, he spoke on social media about his disappointment, sharing on X that he would be producing his own docureality series with an episode specifically titled "Healing from Survivor" so fans at home can see "contestants' journeys moving on with their lives after playing Survivor, not just with each other on the island, but with casting and production off the island." He invited former Survivor players to reach out if interested.
SURVIVING REALITY is coming! When 11 former reality stars journey deep into the Amazon jungle for a radical healing retreat, they must confront their hidden patterns, unearth past traumas, and face the hardest challenge yet: themselves.

A year later, Bledsoe’s project came into fruition with a cast packed like Survivor 50 should’ve been. Alongside Bledsoe, the documentary will feature the following Survivor alums:
- Sean Rector (Survivor: Marquesas)
- John Carroll (Survivor: Marquesas)
- Todd Herzog (Survivor: China)
- Corinne Kaplan (Survivor: Gabon, Survivor: Caramoan)
- J’Tia Taylor (Survivor: Cagayan)
- Shirin Oskooi (Survivor: Worlds Apart, Survivor: Cambodia)
- Ken Cole McKnickle (Survivor: Millennials vs Gen X)
- Kendra McQuarrie (Survivor 45)
- Gabe Ortis (Survivor 46)
- Mary Zheng (Survivor 48)
In another X post, Bledsoe went into further detail about what the documentary will highlight: “When 11 former reality stars journey deep into the Amazon jungle for a radical healing retreat, they must confront their hidden patterns, unearth past traumas, and face the hardest challenge yet: themselves."
He continued, “Thanks to the ancestral wisdom of sacred plant medicines, indigenous shamans, our gracious hosts at Sinchi Warmi, our stellar director [Cassie Jaye] @cassiejayebird and our Ecuador-based crew who survived countless tests during our shoot last November, we are so excited to share the journey with you.“
An interesting tidbit is that the director is none other than Cassie Jaye, who made headlines back in 2016 for her divisive and controversial documentary The Red Pill, which focused on the men's rights movement. Jaye's intentions sparked backlash because of her focus on "wanting to balance" the movement and for receiving support from contentious figures such as Milo Yiannopoulos.
Regardless, it seems the documentary will certainly bring some tea and entertainment for Survivor fans, while also highlighting its members' stories from a perspective different from the show. I also have to confess that when I first saw the poster, I thought it was a whole AI scam, until I recalled that Bledsoe had actually wanted to do a documentary in the past.
And we're set to expect a teaser to air this summer, so we'll update as more information is released.
