Survivor legend was never even contacted about Survivor 50 return

A former Survivor winner never received a phone call about joining the Survivor 50 cast.

Survivor 50 just finished filming out in Fiji, and we're learning more and more about the upcoming season. While we've known the cast for a long time, we're also learning just who wasn't in the running for the Survivor 50 cast. One of those former players who wasn't contacted should be a massive surprise for fans.

Parvati Shallow, the former Survivor winner, was promoting her new book, Nice Girls Don't Win: How I Burned It All Down to Claim My Power, on CBS Mornings. During the segment, Parvati revealed that she never received a phone call about Survivor 50.

When the hosts asked if she was confused about it all, Parvati elaborated.

"I love that you are very confused about that," Parvati said. "Well, no, I just played Australian Survivor vs. the World. So, I did an international season of Survivor that has yet to air. It's going to air in August."

While she wasn't surprised that she wasn't included in Survivor 50, Parvati admitted that she was surprised that no one from Survivor called her to gauge her interest.

"I'm surprised I didn't get a phone call," she said. "But, I don't know. Also, I've said multiple times that I'm not going to play Survivor again. I always kind of say that, and then, I go back and play 'cause I'm addicted to Survivor."

Look, it's ridiculous, regardless of what Parvati has said about Survivor, Jeff Probst, or playing again, that she didn't even receive a phone call. We know Boston Rob got one. He shared that much when he revealed his reasons why he didn't want to participate shortly after the Survivor 50 cast was announced.

And, remember, we knew that Parvati wasn't going to play Survivor 50. Months before the cast was announced, she revealed that she would not be playing in an episode of her podcast.

Still, long before that happened, other former players were receiving calls, gauging interest, and interacting with casting and producers well before those cuts started happening. While some people may be upset that Parvati didn't get a call, we should all be moderately outraged that one of the most famous and successful contestants in the show's history was not even part of the conversation. That's just wrong considering everything Parvati has meant to the franchise. Even if she said no, she should have been contacted about the potential.

The Survivor 50 cast went in a completely different direction with the new era players making up half the cast basically. They also didn't include any of the winners from the first 44 seasons of the show, either. Parvati likely wasn't going to be the only winner from that time frame included, but there's probably some version of Survivor 50 that includes some of the legends like Parvati, Boston Rob, Tony Vlachos, Sandra Diaz-Twine, and other winners, had enough of them expressed interest. Yes, we did see those players in Survivor: Winners at War, but it would have been nice to see them return.

As for when we'll see Parvati on reality TV again, she will be playing Survivor Australia vs. the World later this year. We'll share more information about the series as soon as we find out!
