Shauhin Davari may have finished sixth place on Survivor 48, but he feels that the $1 million prize was nearly in his grasp. He was confident ahead of the Day 23 Tribal Council, but was blindsided by his closest allies. Kyle Fraser found a way to betray him.

When Shauhin won the Day 22 Reward Challenge and got to take Kyle and Joe Hunter with him to get letters from their loved ones, it seemed like a recipe for him to make the Final Five. Instead, Kyle and Kamilla Karthigesu framed him and claimed he had an Immunity Idol and was targeting Joe. And Joe couldn't have that.

Shauhin speaks about his final Survivor 48 episode as a player

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Shauhin touched on several interesting topics. One of them was how confident he felt about his spot in the game and how he came into the merge "as a huge threat." And as the votes started playing out, Shauhin believed that Joe had "kind of burned people" in the process. He elaborated on how people saw himself, Joe, and Eva Erickson. Here's how Shauhin felt:

"The perception was that I was the brains of the operation and that Joe was the brawn and that Eva was the heart. Well, I think most of the time, the person who wins the game is the person who was the brains of the operation."

Shauhin's ultimate plan was to get to the end with Joe and Eva. He felt he had outplayed Eva and would have more jury support than Joe. Did he play a better game than Eva? Probably. Did he have more friends on the jury? Likely.

Shauhin also spoke about being confident that, given his gameplay, he could beat anyone at the final Tribal Council. Of course, his plan's fatal flaw was that he didn't even make it to the end. We may never know how he would have fared in front of the jury, but future exit interviews may shed more light on who could have won had Shauhin made it to the end.

While Shauhin's time on Survivor 48 as a player ended with Episode 12, viewers will see him again during the three-hour season finale. As a jury member, Shauhin gets to vote for the Sole Survivor. We now know the Survivor 48 winner will be Eva, Joe, Kamilla, Kyle, or Mitch Guerra. Don't miss what could be an epic night of Survivor on Wednesday, May 21.
