Will Kyle Fraser be able to betray Joe Hunter on his way to winning Survivor 48? That's the question that Survivor 47 winner Rachel LaMont addressed during a new episode of the On Fire podcast.
Kyle made it to the Final Six on Survivor 48, giving himself a real shot at taking home the $1 million prize. But he also knows that he must go through Joe, who has a great story to tell the jury right before they vote on a winner.
Rachel LaMont explains difficulties ahead for Kyle Fraser
In the most recent episode of On Fire with Jeff Probst, Survivor 47 winner Rachel LaMont was on-hand to speak about Survivor 48 episode 11, and provide a player's view of what has happened. Rachel also knows what it takes to win Survivor, having recently won her season.
A soundbite was shared of Kyle speaking with Mary Zheng as she tried to convince him to turn on Joe and make a big move. He admitted to being very "emotionally connected" to Joe Hunter and Eva Erickson. Kyle also stated that "Joe is probably the frontrunner right now" to win Survivor 48.
Rachel explained that it's not as easy for a player to turn on someone as it might seem on television. She spoke about how they build a community in Fiji, and how that makes betraying someone much more difficult. Here's what Rachel said during the podcast:
"You build a new community, you have a new father figure - a new best friend. Like, our brains kind of crave that sort of structure. It's hard to fathom, but the lines really start to blur, and you take Kyle here, his true allegiance is to Kamilla, his loyal No. 1, and she is telling him, 'We've gotta take this shot, Kyle. We're gonna lose the numbers.' And that makes a lot of sense. But on the other hand, Kyle's looking at Joe, someone he relates to, who has shown him deep compassion and understanding, and remember, Joe hasn't betrayed Kyle."
Rachel further explained that the situation gets complicated because Kyle knows he has to betray Joe to get to the end with Kamila, but the bond he has created with Joe on a personal level is a huge roadblock.
Kyle has made it to the final six players and is very close to arguing his case in front of the Survivor 48 jury. First, he must survive the penultimate episode on May 14, and then he must make it to the final three during the much-anticipated Survivor 48 finale on May 21. Can he win the $1 million prize? Tune in to find out!
