Survivor 47 episode 4 preview, time, and what to expect: Is That Blood in Your Hair
By Bryce Olin
We'll be a third of the way through Survivor 47 after episode 4, "Is That Blood in Your Hair," airs on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Things are just getting good!
I always feel like we're due for something wild to happen! In Survivor 46 by this time, Randen Montalvo had been removed from the game for medical reasons. Bhanu Gopel had "several" meltdowns and speeches about what the game mean to him.
This season, the tribes are much more evenly matched. Through three episodes, each tribe has been to tribal council exactly once. Now, this is where the game gets really good. We should have a few more episodes before the pre-merge festivities, but every move right now is so important. This is, in my opinion, where some of those bonds are formed that will take players to the end. Look at Ben Katzman and Charlie Davis from the Siga tribe in Survivor 46. That bond earned Charlie a spot at the final three, and it was developed over the many days the players spent together.
It also works in reverse, too! The Nami and Siga tribes were so sick of each other by the time they hit the merge that they basically orchestrated their exits from the game. Let the games begin!

Survivor 47 episode 4 preview and synposis
Based on what we've seen in the preview and sneak peeks for episode 4, this might be the wildest episode yet! Survivor 47 has been quite tame so far with three pretty straightforward tribal councils, althought the Tuku tribe did blindside TK Foster in the second episode.
Here's the synopsis for Survivor 47 episode 4, via CBS:
"A castaway risks getting caught red-handed while on the hunt for an advantage in the game. During the immunity challenge, tribes must dig deep to piece together a win to earn a reward and safety at the next tribal council. Then, one castaway from each tribe will take a journey where they must make a big decision that could impact the game... "
In the Next Time on Survivor preview shown at the end of episode 3, there's a lot going on! For the Gata tribe, we see Andy Rueda just, basically falling down all the time while Sam Phalen describes him as the "George Costanza" of Survivor, which is kind of funny but doesn't totally make sense! Maybe it does with a little more context, though. George was always getting into sticky situations on Seinfeld.
Then, we see Rome Cooney and Sol Yi getting a bit heated at the Lavo camp. Sol is, in Rome's words in the latest sneak peek, on the bottom, and he knows it. The Lavo tribe even mentions in the episode 4 sneak peek which we'll discuss shortly that Sol can't find an idol. I'm guessing that in the short clip we get to see, Rome is just annoying and following Sol all over the island, so he can't find an idol. That's why Sol says, "Can I have a minute alone?" and Rome says, "No, it's Survivor. I don't have to."
Finally, we see the Tuku tribe. Tiyana Hallums describes a bloody scene.
"We found Sue, and there's blood everywhere," Tiyana says. Then, we see a clip of what appears to be blood covered sand.
Is Sue okay? Is Sue injured? Is that paint? Where would they get paint from? I don't know what's going on, but hopefully, Sue is okay and no one is actually hurt. That would be such a bummer!
So, we've also seen two sneak peeks at the new episode thanks to CBS. In the first clip, we get to see the Lavo tribe talking about the last vote, in which they voted out Aysha Welch without playing Rome's Steal a Vote advantage. Rome also makes a few comments about sending Sol home by stealing his vote.
It's quite ruthless, but it sets up an interesting situation for the Lavo tribe.
In the second sneak peek, we get to see the Gata tribe minus Sam and Andy. Rachel LaMont, Anika Dhar, and Sierra Wright solidify an all-girls alliance. Rachel also shares some thoughts about how well her game is going right now.
Honestly, any time we see something like this in a Survivor preview, I think it's basically the kiss of death. There's just no way this alliance is actually real. More on that in a minute!
What to expect in "Is That Blood in Your Hair"
So, heading into episode 4, let's take a look at where things stand. Each tribe is down to five players. Each tribe has won an immunity challenge and lost an immunity challenge. They all know what it's like at tribal council, so this is when the game really picks up.
Going tribe by tribe, we've seen a little bit of drama for each tribe. On Lavo, which is where most of the drama is happening, we already Sol idol-hunting, or so it appears. Rome seems to be in control of the game right now, which is interesting because, as I have mentioned before, I don't think his tribe actually likes him all that much. He's playing so, so hard. Yes, he's good in challenges, but at the first chance they get to make a big move, I do think Kishan Patel, Genevieve Mushaluk, and Teeny Chirichillo would side with Sol to take out Rome. Will that happen? We'll see! There's definitely going to be some confrontation.
On the Gata tribe, things seem to be going okay! I do have some big questions about this all-girls alliance, especially because Sierra and Sam have been so close in the game so far. Are they not still loyal to each other? We'll see, but that's something to watch. Andy, Sam, and Sierra do have the votes to take out Anika and Rachel if they want or need to.
And, on the Tuku tribe, it looks like Sue has maybe cut herself on something and there's blood everywhere. I don't know if I believe all of that right now, but we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.
In addition, there's another journey happening after the challenge in episode 4, according to the synopsis, and that could definitely flip the game for someone or some tribe.
