By Bryce Olin
Survivor 47 is here! Tonight is the night! We've been waiting for Survivor 47 since May, and now, it's time to meet the cast, welcome the new tribes to the beach, and watch as 18 new players compete for their shot at $1 million!
I'm sure you've seen all of the headlines about the cast of the newest season of Survivor. CBS announced the full cast at the beginning of September, about two weeks before the new season kicks off.
Heading into the new season, there's still a lot we don't know, especially when it comes to spoilers, gameplay, and all of that, but we do know a lot more about air date, time, and schedule to go along with the full cast and tribe breakdown for Survivor 47.
CBS has also shared a few looks at the new season so far! We shared those teasers and trailers. Jeff Probst also shared some information about the new season before the premiere, as well.
What time is Survivor 47 on CBS?
Survivor 47 premiered on Wednesday, Sept. 18. New episodes of the series are available to watch on CBS at 8 p.m. ET and 7 p.m. C every Wednesday night, just like the previous seasons of the series. You can also expect new episodes every Wednesday throughout the season.
In addition to watching on CBS with a cable, satellite, or streaming TV subscription (YouTube TV, Fubo, Sling, etc.), you can also watch new episodes of Survivor 47 on Paramount+. You'll need a subscription, though, after the free trial runs out. We shared more on how to watch Survivor below.
Episode schedule
CBS has not released the full episode schedule for Survivor 47 yet, but we have a good idea when to expect all the new episodes of the series. Barring any changes from live breaking news coverage or Presidential debates or election coverage, we expect you'll see a new episode of Survivor every Wednesday night until mid-December.
Of course, there's a chance that the US Presidential Election is not decided on Tuesday, Nov. 5. If that happens, we would imagine that CBS might skip that week to provide election coverage on Wednesday, Nov. 6. We're still waiting for the official word on that. If that happens, we expect that the

How long are episodes of Survivor 47?
Good news! Survivor episodes are even longer than usual for the third season in a row!
Starting with the season premiere on Sept. 18, Survivor 47 kicks off with a two-hour episode. That's normal for new seasons of Survivor to start with that exetended episode to introduce fans to the new players, hold two challenges, and an a tribal council.
After the first episode, the new Survivor 47 episodes will be 90 minutes. It's a great way to allow fans to see more of the game than ever before. And, it's really worked out with the expedited gameplay.
We're expecting the Survivor 47 finale and reunion will be a three-hour episode. That's held true for many seasons of Survivor. We get to see two hours of gameplay followed by an hour of cast interviews and reactions with Jeff Probst.
Jeff Probst reveals changes to Sweat vs. Savvy challenge
We don't know much about Survivor 47 gameplay, and that's by design, of course. Production does a great job of making sure that plot details, results, and spoilers don't leak into the mainstream. You can find information if you really want, but it's not worth it, in my opinion.
Jeff did reveal that there is one big change coming at the beginning of the game in Survivor 47. The Sweat vs. Savvy challenge is finally changing to something more fun.
For those who don't recall, the Sweat vs. Savvy challenge is the New Era challenge that immediately follows the first reward challenge on the first day on the beach. The winning tribe gets supplies. There have been different variations over the years, but the two losing tribes must choose a challenge to complete. If they complete the grueling physical activity or mental challenge, they get supplies for the tribe.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Jeff shared why they changed the challenge.
"We've evolved Sweat vs. Savvy into something a little different this season. It's the same goal, which is to earn tribe supplies for your camp, but the method for doing it is very different. It's a nice, fresh idea. It's fun to watch, very fun for the player to do."
This sounds like a much better way to start the game!
Survivor 47 sneak peeks
In the week leading up to the season 47 premiere, CBS shared two sneak peeks and a preview for Survivor 47.
In the first clip, Jeff introduces the three tribes Tuku, Lavo, and Gata, and talks to two of the new players, Gabe Ortis of the Tuku tribe and Teeny Chirichillo of the Lavo tribe. This is basically the first moment for all three tribes in season 47. From here, they move into the first reward challenge!
And, that's the second clip of Survivor 47 that CBS shared. Jeff makes sure everyone is ready to go before officially kicking off the first challenge of the season.
In the challenge, the tribes race out into the jungle after crawling through the muddy pit and nets to retrieve giant puzzle pieces. When they return, it looks like someone is going to have to solve the puzzle!
"That mud is birthing you into Survivor right there," Jeff yells to the players. It's officially game on!
So, that's what we know about Survivor 47 so far! We're going to be sharing more updates as we get closer to the season premiere.
Remember, Survivor 47 airs on Wednesdays this fall starting on Sept. 18. You can also listen to On Fire with Jeff Probst, the Survivor podcast, immediately after each episode. Charlie Davis, the runner-up for Survivor 46, will be the new cohost of the show with Probst and producer Jay Wolff.
