The Survivor 47 cast was announced recently. Heading into the new season, 18 new Survivor players hit the beach for the chance to outwit, outplay, and outlast the other 17 castaways for a $1 million prize.

Survivor 47 premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 18, with new episodes airing throughout the fall on CBS and Paramount+.

In theory, anyone can win Survivor, and that's why we love the series so much. We never know how the season is going to play out. After looking back at the more recent seasons, watching the promos for the season, reading through the bios, watching the cast interviews, there are a few cast members who might have a more prominent role than other players in Survivor 47.

Jon Lovett

Jon Lovett is the only Survivor 47 cast member who has been featured in every teaser, trailer, and promo clip for the new season. Jon is obviously the most famous member of the season 47 cast. He might not be a household name, but he's clearly the contestant that some fans will recognize.

For those who don't know, Jon is also the host of Pod Save America, a political podcast. He was a speechwriter for President Barack Obama, and he's written TV episodes of 1600 Penn, The Newsroom, and more.

So far, Jon appears to be the narrator of the season. Of course, we're going to get to know the cast, but the series seems to believe Jon has a certain aura about him that's worth showing. Is that because he's funny, charismatic, and a good public speaker? Or, is it because he goes deep in the game? Maybe, it's both!

Jon is definitely one of the characters to keep an eye on. In the past, TV and film writers have faired well in Survivor. Mike White, creator of The White Lotus and writer/star of School of Rock, finished runner-up on Survivor: David vs. Goliath. David Wright, another TV writer, finished fourth on Survivor: Millenials vs. Gen X, but he didn't do as well on Survivor: Edge of Extinction.

Genevieve Mushaluk

Genevieve Mushaluk is the next Survivor player who fans need to watch in Survivor 47. The 33-year-old Winnipeg native is the last person featured in the first look trailer for Survivor 47. Do you know who was the last person featured in the first look trailer for Survivor 46? That would be Survivor 46 winner, Kenzie Petty.

In the teaser for Survivor 46, Kenzie, basically, shares her excitement to play the game. Genevieve, on the other hand, is not the last person to speak on the trailer, but she is the last player on video. Would Survivor do the same thing for consecutive seasons and show the winner as the last person to be shown in the promo? It's definitely possible!

It's not the only reason I think people need to watch for Genevieve. In her interview and in the promo, she definitely appears to be one of the more aggressive players on Survivor 47.

"I'm either going to blaze my own path out here, or I'm going to burn down this island," Genevieve says in the teaser.

Four of the last six winners of Survivor have been women. Both of those points might work in Genevieve's favor in Survivor 47.

Rome Cooney

Rome Cooney is my final pick for players to watch heading into the Survivor 47 premiere. Rome was also one of two players featured in the initial premiere date announcement video that CBS shared.

"Survivor has evolved," Rome says in the clip. "All these advantages and all these twists."

Rome has also been featured in the other videos, as well. I don't think it's a requirement that the winner has to be featured in the promos, but I do think that Survivor is smart about which players get screen time.

Overall, I like Rome's vibe. I don't think he will antagonize anyone right out of the gate. Rome seems knowledgeable in the game, and we all know how important that is in the New Era of Survivor. If you're not keeping up on the latest strategies and shifts in the game, you're going to be watching from the sidelines, either on the jury or Ponderosa.

He's 30 years old and works as an E-Sports commentator, according to CBS. Like Jon, is he a good narrator for the season? Or, is he going to go far in the game? I like his chances!

Heading into the season 47 premiere on Sept. 18, those are the three characters you need to watch!
