Survivor 47 is finally here! The new season premieres tonight, and there's a new preview for fans to check out.

In what will likely be the final preview before the season premieres on CBS (Wednesday, Sept. 18), host and executive producer Jeff Probst teased the new season and praised the cast of Survivor 47.

"Every season comes down to the players," Jeff says in the preview of the new season. "That's what makes the season good or bad. And, we have a dynamic group of players."

The Survivor 47 cast was announced a few weeks before the season. There are 18 new Survivor players hitting the beach and laying it all on the line to become the next Sole Survivor.

Jeff Probst reveals how the previous season could impact Survivor 47

In the new preview, which was released on the Survivor on CBS YouTube channel, fans get to meet a few of those new players, including Jon Lovett, the host of Pod Save America and speechwriter for President Barack Obama, Rome Cooney, and Genevieve Mushaluk. Those are the players to watch in the season premiere, but the rest of the cast seems ready to compete.

"We've all got our hit list, and I'm on everyone's hit list," Genevieve says. "It's just a matter of in what order."

And, that's a good thing! I think a few casting choices went wrong in Survivor 46. In Survivor 47, all 18 players seem very serious about strategy, gameplay, and playing to win the game, which is so important for the fan experience. It's much more fun when people will lay it all on the line and not play so safely.

Probst also mentions how each season impacts the next season because players get to watch and see how different strategies win or lose.

"Each season of Survivor is influenced by the previous season," Jeff says. "So, the moves and strategies employed in Survivor 46 will definitely impact Survivor 47. For example, idols."

As you may recall, five players in Survivor 46 went home with idols in their pockets, including Q Burdette, Tiffany Nicole Ervin, Hunter McKnight, Venus Vafa, and Jem Hussain-Adams.

Probst compares the new season to Game of Thrones

Finally, at the end of the clip, Probst makes a bold statement about the new season of Survivor. Probst compared Survivor 47 to Game of Thrones. Apparently, this cast is taking out the big dogs all season long!

"Survivor 47 is kind of like Game of Thrones," Probst says at the end of the preview. "Those in power are always under attack. Today's ruler is tomorrow's exile."

For my non-fantasy TV Survivor fans, Game of Thrones is the wildly popular fantasy series based on George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire. Game of Thrones tells the story of the Houses of Westeros as they lie, cheat, steal, backstab, and destroy their way to power. It's glorious!

If Survivor 47 is actually like Game of Thrones in any facets of the game, fans are definitely in for a treat this season!
