Survivor 47 has been a season full of twists, and now, CBS has one final twist in store for the new season of the series.

According to an exclusive report from Entertainment Weekly's Dalton Ross, the Survivor 47 finale will be split into two parts. On the surface, that's a break from a long-held tradition for the Survivor 47 finale. Fans will remember that the Survivor finale has ALWAYS been a three-hour episode with a live reunion special. Now, that's changing for season 47.

Each part of the Survivor 47 finale will be a two-hour episode, including the live reunion special for the reading of the final tribal council votes, according to the report.

Survivor 47 two-part finale dates announced

Unfortunately, there will be a break between each part of the Survivor 47 finale. The episodes will air back-to-back weeks, not back-to-back days, which means fans are going to be sitting with the events of the first half of the season 47 finale for a full week before finding out the Survivor 47 winner.

According to the report, Part 1 of the Survivor 47 finale will air on CBS and Paramount+ on Wednesday, Dec. 11. Part 2 of the Survivor 47 finale will air one week later on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

I don't know that I love waiting so long to find out who wins Survivor 47, but I can see this working out given how many players are usually left at the beginning of the finale. In recent seasons, there have been five players remaining when the finale begins. In that three-hour window, the show packs in two immunity challenges

Remaining Survivor 47 episode schedule

Unless CBS schedules a break over the next few weeks, the final episode count for Survivor 47 will be 14 episodes, which is up from Survivor 46's 13 episodes. It'll be very interesting to see how this all plays out. Clearly, it's being done for a reason, and hopefully, that reason is the story, not a viewership grab!

We shared the remaining Survivor 47 episode schedule:

  • "Loyal to the Soil" (Episode 10): Wednesday, Nov. 20
  • Episode 11: Wednesday, Nov. 27
  • Episode 12: Wednesday, Dec. 4
  • Survivor 47 Finale Part 1 (Episode 13): Wednesday, Dec. 11
  • Survivor 47 Finale Part 2 (Episode 14): Wednesday, Dec. 18

Here I was thinking that we only had three more episodes of Survivor 47 after episode 10. Now, we have officially five more episodes in this season. And, it's just getting good!

Personally, I'm a little bit bummer about the Survivor 47 finale getting split into two parts. I like that we get an additional hour of the season. I'm really, really hoping we get to see more tha argument at final tribal council. That's one area that the show could improved. I want to see that whole conversation as each contestant shares why they should win to the people they've blindsided all season. We should get some fireworks this season.

Stay tuned for news about the rest of Survivor 47! Don't forget to tune in for the FIRST-EVER Survivor two-part finale on Wednesday, Dec. 11, and Wednesday, Dec. 18!
