It seems like just yesterday we were meeting the Survivor 48 cast for the first time. Now, we're about to learn who the winner of Survivor 48 will be during the season finale.
The episode is titled "Only One of Yous Can Win," and while we know that to be true, it also means four players of the Final Five are about to get their hearts broken during this episode. I don't know if I'm ready to see some combination of Eva Erickson, Kamilla Karthigesu, Joe Hunter, Kyle Fraser, and Mitch Guerra devastated during this episode. That's what is about to happen.
Here is the synopsis for the Survivor 48 finale, via CBS:
"The $1 million dollars is closer than ever as the remaining castaways enter the final stretch of the game. A major come-from-behind win earns one person a trip to the sanctuary and a spot in the final four. Then, a tumultuous fire-making showdown determines the final three. One castaway will be crowned Sole Survivor and awarded the $1 million prize, on the season 48 finale, followed by the After Show, hosted by Jeff Probst, on SURVIVOR..."
I also shared my predictions for who is going to win Survivor 48!
What time and how long is the Survivor finale on tonight?
The Survivor 48 finale will air at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. C on Wednesday, May 21, on CBS and Paramount+. CBS also revealed that the Survivor 48 finale will be three hours long. So, we're getting double the Survivor in this episode than we've been used to every night this season with the 90-minute episodes.
This is a little bit of a change of pace back to normalcy for Survivor. Traditionally, the show's finale has always been three hours, but that changed when CBS broke up the Survivor 47 finale. It was two, two-hour episodes, so we basically got an additional hour of the season.
Unfortunately, fans on the West Coast will have to wait until 8 p.m. PT to watch the episode, so watch out for spoilers online!
What to expect in the Survivor 48 finale

Officially, we have two immunity challenges (one with a reward element), two Tribal Councils, and a fire-making challenge, along with Final Tribal Council and the Aftershow hosted by Jeff Probst. That's a lot to pack into a three-hour window, but somehow, the Survivor team is going to make it happen.
Based on the synopsis, we have a "come-from-behind" win in the first immunity challenge. Then, we have a "tumultuous" fire-making challenge before Final Tribal Council. Obviously, we don't know what exactly is going to happen, but having these many high-intensity challenges in a row is going to be really interesting to watch. I can't wait to see how it all shakes out!
Then, of course, we will learn who wins Survivor 48! That's the best part of the episode, of course, especially if you're a fan of the inevitable winner. It might be hard to watch if you're not a fan of that player, but hey, that's how it goes in Survivor.
Survivor 48 finale sneak peeks
CBS has shared a few sneak peeks at the Survivor finale, thankfully! In the first sneak peek, Kyle, who seems like he has a good shot at winning this season, is feeling pretty good about his gameplay following the move to vote out Shauhin Davari and make the Final Five.
And, he should feel good! That was a potentially game-winning move! Now, it's all about executing his strategy down the stretch.
In the other sneak peek, Joe explains how proud he is to make it this far in the game. He also pumps himself up for the final challenges that remain in the game. In fact, he alluded it's like, I assume, the San Francisco 49ers going to Lambeau Field to play the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship. He sounds like he's ready to win if you ask me, but will he?
I'm not so sure, but he has a good chance to make the Final Three.
What twists can we expect in the Survivor 48 finale?
This is Survivor after all, and nothing is ever as straightforward as it seems. There's a lot of grey area, and we know Jeff and the Survivor gang have no problem throwing an additional twist in the mix.
So, first of all, we know there's a hidden immunity idol still in play. Will Eva play it for herself? Will she play it for Joe or another player? We'll just have to wait and see how that plays out, but she should be safe during the next vote and make the Final Four.
Speaking of Eva, in one of the promos for Survivor 48, which I've shared below because it contains possible spoilers for the episode, Eva is seen struggling at camp. There's a cryptex puzzle at camp, too, so I'm curious if Eva wins an advantage that holds a clue or advantage for one of the final challenges, but she's struggling to open it. Is that possible? I could be forgetting previous seasons, but I don't recall something like this at this phase of the game before.
It could also be a hint that Eva will be part of the Final Four fire-making challenge, and she's nervous about how it's going to go. That could be something to watch!
We also have the winner of the Final Five immunity challenge earning what could be the last reward of the season. In the synopsis, we learn that the player will earn a trip to the Sanctuary, but will they get to pick someone to join them? Will they get to pick two players? That reward could be huge in determining how the rest of the season is going to play out.
Survivor 48 finale spoilers
So, there are some possible spoilers floating around for the finale tonight, which is why I saved them until the end to talk about them. If you watch the promo from CBS, which is above, you can see a few things about the episode that are, well, very spoilery!
First, we see the jury walking into one Tribal Council. The jurors walk out in order of elimination, so in the back of the line of jurors, we see someone who looks very much like Mitch Guerra, which would mean Mitch is getting voted out in the Final Five.
Later, we see Kamilla Karthigesu wearing the immunity necklace, meaning that she is going to win one of the next two challenges. Personally, I'm guessing she wins at Final Five and earns her spot in the Final Four.
The synopsis only helps that suspicion. We know that the challenge features a come-from-behind victory. Kamilla is up against four strong players when it comes to physical challenges. That challenge, from what we can see, looks very challenging to start, but the players need to finish a puzzle at the end. So, I'm guessing Kamilla falls behind early and then kicks their butts at the puzzle.
From there, I don't think there were any other spoilers in the clip, but you can watch for yourself and see if I missed anything!
So, that's everything you need to know about the Survivor 48 finale! It's been a great season, and I hope it ends on a high note!
