Survivor 49 set for fall premiere on CBS

CBS announced its Fall 2025 TV schedule, including Survivor 49.

We're still two weeks away from theSurvivor 48finale, but CBS just shared a huge update aboutSurvivor 49.

During the first week of May 2025, CBS rolled out its Fall TV lineup. Thankfully,Survivor 49was a part of the shows that will air this fall. According to a report fromTV Line, Survivor 49will air weekly on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. The new season, which will be hosted by Jeff Probst, just started filming this spring.

That shouldn't be a surprise forSurvivorfans. We already knewSurvivor 50was going topremiere on CBS in February 2026.That meansSurvivor 49has to air during the fall season to set up the big season. The TV Line report also confirmed theSurvivor 50timeslot for CBS's Winter TV lineup.

Unfortunately, CBS did not announce the premiere date forSurvivor 49. We could find out that information over the remainder of the spring and into summer, but we might be waiting closer to the fall until we find out the exact daySurvivor 49premieres.

Based on previous seasons, we'll probably see the season premiere on the third Wednesday of September. This year, that will be Wednesday, Sept. 17, but it could be Wednesday, Sept. 24. We'll share more information when we find out!

Survivor 49 will also feature 90-minute episodes

While the fall premiere forSurvivor 49wasn't necessarily new, although it was confirmed, we did learn some new information aboutSurvivor 49.

According to the schedule, the new season ofThe Amazing Racewill air at 9:30 p.m. That meansSurvivor 49will consist of 90-minute episodes throughout the season.

Those longer episodes have been a staple of the more recent seasons ofSurvivor,and it seems to work really well. No, the ratings aren't necessarily improving because of the longer episodes. From a narrative perspective, the longer episodes work so much better. There's so much more time to get to know these players, learn who they are, and see as many of the moves they are making. With the shorter episodes, we definitely miss out on a lot of camp life, strategy, discussing big moves, and other things like that.
