Survivor 50 cast won't be announced during the Survivor 48 finale

After an epic social media tease, we finally know when the Survivor 50 cast will be announced.

The Survivor 50 cast rumors have been flying around fast and furiously lately. After months of speculation, stunning betrayals, and former players confirming they would NOT be a part of the Survivor 50 cast, we finally know when CBS is going to announce the list of returning players.

We have some big news regarding the Survivor 50 cast announcement. We know when it will be, and most importantly, when it won't be. And, no, it won't be during the Survivor 48 finale on Wednesday, May 21.

According to the Survivor Instagram, the Survivor 50 cast will be announced on Wednesday, May 28, one week after the Survivor 48 finale.

So, how did we get here?

Earlier this week, news spread like wildfire among Survivor fans that the Survivor 50 cast was going to be announced on Wednesday during the Survivor 48 finale. On Instagram, the Survivor account was dropping hints among other photo drops. It all started with the Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans logo, followed by the word "CAST" in a video post, and then the word "Wednesday" in another post. When fans put it all together, it looked like the pictures said "Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans cast Wednesday." And everyone thought that meant the cast would be announced on Wednesday, May 21, during the Survivor 48 finale.

Well, that's not happening. The Survivor Instagram killed that deam like a Jeff Probst snuffing a torch. On Tuesday, May 20, the Survivor Instagram published the final part of the secret message, and it was the official date the cast will be announced: May 28. You can see for yourself in the Instagram post.

Even the Survivor account apologized for the blindside in their Instagram Stories.

The Inside Survivor's latest Patreon post revealed that Wednesday, May 28, is actually the day that the Survivor 50 cast is flying out to Fiji to start filming the season. Survivor 49 just wrapped up recently (or will be done soon), so it's all about Survivor 50 now for the production team.

It makes a lot of sense why CBS and Survivor want to reveal the cast soon. We know there are going to be many, many questions about who is returning for the question. Knowing the cast is valuable information, and we know there are already people who know who is returning and will be sharing that information as soon as the players are in Fiji. So, it makes sense for CBS to get ahead of it, make it a big deal, and roll out that cast list.

Unfortunately, we won't be seeing those players for a while. Survivor 49 will air on CBS this fall, while Survivor 50 will not be released until February 2026.
