Survivor 50 cast won't be announced during the Survivor 48 finale

After an epic social media tease, we finally know when the Survivor 50 cast will be announced.

TheSurvivor 50cast rumorshave been flying around fast and furiously lately. After months ofspeculation, stunningbetrayals, and formerplayers confirming they would NOT be a partof theSurvivor 50cast, we finally know when CBS is going to announce the list of returning players.

We have some big news regarding theSurvivor 50cast announcement. We know when it will be, and most importantly, when it won't be. And, no, it won't be during theSurvivor 48finaleon Wednesday, May 21.

According to theSurvivorInstagram,theSurvivor 50cast will be announced on Wednesday, May 28, one week after theSurvivor 48finale.

So, how did we get here?

Earlier this week, news spread like wildfire amongSurvivorfans that the Survivor 50 cast was going to be announced on Wednesday during theSurvivor 48finale. On Instagram, the Survivor account was dropping hints among other photo drops. It all started with theSurvivor 50: In the Hands of the Fanslogo, followed by the word"CAST"in a video post, and then the word"Wednesday"in another post. When fans put it all together, it looked like the pictures said "Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans cast Wednesday." And everyone thought that meant the cast would be announced on Wednesday, May 21, during theSurvivor 48finale.

Well, that's not happening. TheSurvivorInstagram killed that deam like a Jeff Probst snuffing a torch. On Tuesday, May 20, theSurvivorInstagram published the final part of the secret message, and it was the official date the cast will be announced: May 28. You can see for yourself in the Instagram post.

Even the Survivor account apologized for the blindside in theirInstagram Stories.

The Inside Survivor's latestPatreon postrevealed that Wednesday, May 28, is actually the day that theSurvivor 50cast is flying out to Fiji to start filming the season.Survivor 49just wrapped up recently (or will be done soon), so it's all aboutSurvivor 50now for the production team.

It makes a lot of sense why CBS and Survivor want to reveal the cast soon. We know there are going to be many, many questions about who is returning for the question. Knowing the cast is valuable information, and we know there are already people who know who is returning and will be sharing that information as soon as the players are in Fiji. So, it makes sense for CBS to get ahead of it, make it a big deal, and roll out that cast list.

Unfortunately, we won't be seeing those players for a while.Survivor 49will air on CBS this fall, whileSurvivor 50will not be released until February 2026.
