TheSurvivor 50castwas announced on May 28, with 24 alums getting another shot at playing the game.Survivor 48winner Kyle FraserandSurvivor 45winner Dee Valladares are featured. Additional players includeWhite Lotuscreator Mike White, Charlie Davis fromSurvivor 46,and Jenna Lewis-Dougherty, who appeared onSurvivor 1andSurvivor 8.
The cast also features long-time alumCirie Fields, but the producers should have left her at home. We've seen enough from Cirie over the years, and she has had enough shots to win that $1 million prize. That spot should have gone to one of the many other alums who deserve a second chance at the game.
It's not just her appearances onSurvivorthat have taken away the allure of having Cirie back — her time onThe Traitorsand in theBig Brotherhouse has also added to the overexposure. Cirie won the first season ofThe Traitors US, taking home a cash prize of more than $200,000. She followed that up by spending a summer in theBig Brother 26house, though she didn't win that show. Simply put, she's had more opportunities than many who have played the game.
Cirie Fields has already played Survivor enough times
Survivor: Panama(Season 12) introduced Cirie Fields to the world of reality television. She finished in fourth place and enamored herself withSurvivorproducers and the fans. We quickly saw Cirie return forSurvivor: Micronesia(Season 16), where she finished in third place. Cirie would also be featured onSurvivor: Heroes vs. Villains(Season 20) andSurvivor: Game Changers(Season 34). She even popped up on the latest season ofSurvivor: Australia,representing the USA team.
Five times is enough.
TheSurvivor 50cast should have featured someone other than Cirie Fields. ManySurvivoralums deserved a second chance and got passed over to allow Cirie to play again. It's a disservice to those players and also the fans at home. We have seen Cirie play the game many times now. We know what she brings to the show and how she plays the game.
There is no denying that Cirie is aSurvivorlegend, but this was an opportunity to turn the page and usher in something new. Instead of getting to see someone who hasn't competed in as many seasons return, we're going to see Cirie playSurvivorfor a sixth time.
