The title for Survivor season 36 has been revealed and it might be one of the most ridiculous ones they’ve come up with yet.
While Survivor fans are biding time in the offseason, patiently awaiting Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, season 36 is beginning filming — though it won’t air until Spring 2018. Despite the long wait until the season, this is the time when some details start to emerge. And on Saturday, we got the biggest of those details: the title.
The always reliable Inside Survivor revealed on Saturday that the title and theme of Survivor season 36 will be Ghost Island. No, this isn’t the latest epic adventure from Shaggy, Fred, Daphne, Velma and Scooby Doo (or even Scrappy Doo); this is still Jeff Probst and a group of castaways.
Obviously there isn’t an actual place called Ghost Island because we don’t live in a cartoon world. While that may be the case, the title of the season does beg a ton of questions as to what they have planned.

We know that the season is filming in Fiji, but we don’t know what the Ghost Island theme really entails. It’s some sort of twist for the game, sure, but what kind of twist does that promise?
One thing that feels like a certainty at this point, though, is that this will result in some cringe-worthy moments. Probst has never been one to let heavy-handed monologues go by the wayside. So with a paranormal-infused title for the season, it’s going to be at an all-time high, if I had to guess.
With that being said, perhaps there is another twist here involved with the title that we’re missing. As Inside Survivor surmised, maybe it has to do with ghosts of the game’s past. Whatever the case, we’re at least intrigued by Survivor: Ghost Island.
