Bret LaBelle and Kellyn Bechtold team up with members of the RHAP community to compete in a virtual $100,000 Pyramid game based on Survivor lore.
With the Survivor offseason nearing the final stretch, it’s been tough to find things to talk about. Thankfully, casting for season 39 (and maybe 40) has begun, the cast list for Edge of Extinction is slowly coming out week(s) by week(s), and we can expect official casting videos and other details for David vs. Goliath to be revealed in the next few days or next week.
RHAP has been feeling the slow crawl of the summer months, too, but they’ve been keeping at it with fun what-if scenarios such as an all-first-boot season simulation using BrantSteele. Now, Rob Cesternino has brought on Bret LaBelle from Millennials vs. Gen X (and The Amazing Race season 31) and Ghost Island’s Kellyn Bechtold to play their own version of The $100,000 Pyramid.
Aptly named the “PyRHAPmid,” two patrons of RHAP teamed up with Survivor players to feed clues related to moments from the show or things related to playing the game of Survivor. For example, some of the categories include “Flippers That Win,” “Finally … Screen Time,” and “No Matter What Your Gut Says.”
What really sells this fun little game is Bret and Kellyn busting their butts and getting as emotionally invested in the game as they would competing for a million dollars. Even with no tangible prizes offered to the participants (apart from a signed photo of Bret and Chris Hammons), you can tell their excitement when they play a great round and how bummed they are when letting their partner down.
We also got to take a look behind the curtain for the Survivor players, too, as we got more confirmation that for whatever reason, Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers players never received their complementary trip to Fiji that literally any player from any other modern Fiji season received. It was nice that Kellyn offered to pay for half their flight, though!
