We've spent more time with the Vula tribe than the Lagi and Civa tribes in the first two episodes of Survivor 48. The tribe has lost almost every challenge so far, and they've paid a visit to Jeff Probst at Tribal Council for two episodes in a row to vote out players.
If the new pictures that CBS shared from Survivor 48 episode 3, "Committing to the Bit," are any indication, we're going to be spending even more time with the Vula tribe in the next episode.
Of the six images from the new episode, five of them feature the Vula tribe. There were no pictures of the Lagi tribe from this episode, but there was one of the Civa tribe. So, what does it mean? I have the sneaking suspicion that Vula is headed for another massive loss and visit to Tribal Council in episode 3. That's what it seems like CBS wants viewers to think anyway.
Honestly, I would be surprised if Vula did win the challenge. At this point, the players are more concerned with Mary Zheng finding an idol in the jungle than they are with building a cohesive unit to go up against some really talented tribes in Civa and Lagi. In the sneak peek at episode 3, we saw Sai Hughley chasing Mary around the beach.
Of the pictures, there are three from the Vula camp, while the other two are from the immunity challenge. From the looks of things, the players will be blindfolded during the challenge. Cedrek McFadden will be walking the Vula tribe through the challenge. We'll see how it all plays out!
In the other pictures, we see Mary and Justin laughing and talking at camp, along with a picture of Justin and another of Sai. I don't understand the reasoning of sharing all of these pictures if they won't be the focal point of the episode.

There's also a line from the episode synopsis that's super interesting to to me, and I feel like that is pointing Vula's way, too. It reads: "The rising tention within the losing tribe culminate in a historic Tribal Council."
I don't know how the Lagi or Civa tribe could have that much "rising tension" yet. They haven't even voted anyone out yet. It has to be the Vula tribe, right? It just has to be. And, on top of that, a historic Tribal Council could lead three players left on one tribe this early in the game. I don't think I can remember a tribe losing all three challenges to start a season since Survivor 46, but even then, they didn't have to send someone home because Randen Montalvo was pulled from the game.
Of course, this all could be a misdirection to make us think that Vula is on the chopping block again, but that's just good promo if that's true!
We'll find out on Wednesday, March 12! Stay tuned for more information about this week's episode of Survivor!
