Survivor 46 episode 5 preview: Somebody's not telling the truth
By Bryce Olin
Survivor 46 enters a new part of the game in episode 5, titled "Tiki Man." After another devastating loss in the immunity challenge for Yanu, Bhanu was the fourth person voted out of the season. It leaves the Yanu tribe with three members: Q, Kenzie, and Tiffany. Their backs are officially against the wall, but it doesn't look like a tribe swap is imminent.
The fifth episode of Survivor 46 will be released at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.
How long is tonight's episode of Survivor?
"Tiki Man" will be another 90-minute episode. As fans know, the first two episodes of the season were two hours long. For the third episode, Survivor switched to the 90-minute format, which has been the norm for the series since season 45, which aird during the writers' and actors' strikes.
Jeff Probst told EW's Dalton Ross that the longer episodes are "the sweet spot" for Survivor.
"After season 45, I was talking with CBS saying, ‘It's going to be hard to go back to 60 minutes. We can do it, and we will anytime you need us to, but we got to feel what it was like to have one more cocktail at the party.'"
Tim questions Jem about the missing hidden immunity idol
In the short "Next Time on Survivor preview for the fifth episode of the season, we see Kenzie and Tiffany joking about what Yanu will lose next, and that's all we see from the Yanu tribe.
After Jem's epic move in episode 4, Jem finds herself in a tough situation. Tim is questioning her about hiding the Beware Advantage and clue to the hidden immunity idol in the wrong place. Jem, rightfully, denies her role in it, but everyone knows that "somebody's not telling the truth," as Tim says in his confessional.
Jem absolutely can't admit what she did to the Siga tribe. It was a brilliant move at the time, but she will blow up her game if she admits what happened. She can come clean or use that information later to her advantage post-merge, but now is not the time. I'm confident she'll continue to deny it, which is the best move for her game.
The Nami tribe is idol hunting
Over on the Nami tribe, things should be good vibes, but things are getting a little bit spicy. In the fourth episode, Tevin and Hunter agreed that Soda is playing too good of a social game. The relationships she's developing make her a threat moving forward. Hunter has won four straight immunity challenges for the tribe, and he looks like a huge threat in the game, too. No one has pointed that out yet, so it will be an interesting development to watch.
In the fifth episode, the preview shows Tevin, Soda, and others looking the hidden immunity idol. We already know that Venus already has the clue to the idol, but she can't act on it until they lose an immunity challenge.
This sure looks like Nami is headed for a loss at the next immunity challenge! That would mean Venus has an opporunity to solve the clue and find the location of the hidden immunity idol before tribal council or lose her vote.
We'll see what happens on the next episode of Survivor!
