After a shocking double elimination last week, will two more castaways get their torches snuffed tonight? It’s the penultimate episode of Survivor 50 and we have to get the numbers down for the finale next week. But if we are seeing two players take their leave, will it be another twist that drives the game into chaos, or are we simply getting a double episode with two back-to-back Tribal Councils?

No matter what the situation, everyone has a target on their back—except for maybe Joe Hunter until he bugs Cirie Fields again—this close to the end, and everyone is locked in on eliminating someone while someone else is locked in on sending them to the jury. But anything can happen this late in the game and it’s looking like Survivor 50 is any of our Final 7’s game to lose.

Frenemies reunite at camp

Arriving back at camp, Cirie is angry at Devens for trying to come for her, but she’s even more upset to see Ozzy Lusth is gone. Rizo Velovic returns and immediately tells Cirie that Ozzy told Aubry Bracco everything which pisses her off even more. She confesses that she never would have held onto Ozzy for so long if she knew he was an idiot—her exact words, though she used more expletives.

Rick Devens publicly credits Jonathan Young for single-handedly getting rid of Ozzy, which frustrates Aubry. Jonathan congratulates Aubry on helping him make that happen, saying she played her part perfectly and he hopes they can continue to work together. But Aubry knows this is a very delicate time as she took the wrong people to the end in her first season and doesn’t want to make that mistake again.

The next morning, before the sun even rises, Devens is idol hunting after he used his idol at the prior Tribal Council. Aubry takes note and tells Joe and Jonathan. Jonathan immediately starts following Devens like a shadow. Everyone is back at camp laughing about the image, but this works perfectly for Aubry because it keeps the target over on Devens and the attention off of her as she continues to play the middle during a very precarious point in the game.

Joe comes up to Devens at the hammock and Devens tells him he’s looked everywhere, but he gets emotional telling him he tries to always stay positive and he never wants to count himself out, but this could be the end for him. Joe appears to do his best to comfort him with a shoulder squeeze, but in a confessional, Devens admits that in Edge of Extinction he wasn’t just the idol guy, he was a 4-time challenge winner. So he’s not out yet.

The return of an iconic challenge

Our Final 7 arrive at the challenge arena where “A Bit Tipsy” is set up for them—back in its original format after differentiating in Survivor 49. In addition to immunity, they’re playing for a full BBQ feast back at camp.

Aubry and Tiffany Ervin are first out of the gate to start stacking, but Joe comes in fast—having won this challenge the last time it was run in this format in Survivor 48. Jonathan and Devens continue to fall out while Aubry and Tiffany both place their 7th block, side-by-side as they go back for their final block, but both drop on their way back.

This puts Rizo in the lead with Joe right behind him, but Rizo, excited by his advancement, drops out. Joe, slow-and-steady, goes back for his last block as everyone else tries to catch up to him, but continues to fall out. Jonathan, Rizo, Tiffany, and Cirie are all one block behind Joe, moving quicker to try and catch up.

As Joe continues to move at a snail’s pace, Tiffany and Jonathan both fall out. Joe places his final block and starts heading back, but Rizo is placing his second to last block at the same time and starts going for it and falls.

Joe wins immunity at this challenge for the second time and invites Cirie and Rizo to join him for the reward meal

A feast fit for a Final Three

The reward meal is driving Joe, but also recognizes that he chose his company strategically. Joe acknowledges Cirie as the person on the tribe with the most connections and Rizo as someone he wants to ensure he’s on the good side because he has an idol.

The three easily agree that Devens needs to be the next to go. But back at camp, Tiffany angrily comments on how Rizo didn’t eat all the food he got at the auction and it’s not fair that he was given the reward. She turns to Devens, wanting to use him as a smoke screen as she plans a blindside against Rizo to flush his idol. Devens approaches Aubry and tells her that Tiffany’s annoyed with Rizo.

This makes Aubry lean away from voting for Rizo because she thinks maybe the jury won’t award $2 million to an annoying kid and that could be someone she wants at the end. Whereas Devens is a true threat and definitely someone she doesn’t want to sit in the Final Three with.

Tiffany brings in Jonathan about getting out Rizo and they approach Cirie about blindsiding him to get rid of the idol. But Cirie doesn’t want her other closest ally left in the game to be blindsided, too—like Ozzy. So Cirie is pushing for Devens to go home, wanting to do whatever it takes to save Rizo.

Who was voted out of Survivor 50 episode 12?

After being asked, Joe mentions that he doesn’t think anyone was upset about his choice to take Cirie and Rizo on the reward. He says he chose people based on who hasn’t eaten much which causes Devens to laugh and interject that back at camp people were actually upset about him taking them considering the fact that they ate at the auction. Tiffany and Jonathan both call out that they were upset and have not eaten as much as either of his choices.

Devens calls out that he’s likely the one on the chopping block tonight—even going as far to say as it’ll be a blindside if he doesn’t go home. Rizo also stresses that he knows his name has been tossed around. Devens gets emotional about his return to the game, saying how connected he feels to the island, which host Jeff Probst thanks him for sharing, explaining so perfectly the core nature of the game.

And it was a beautiful exit speech, but he’s not ready to give up just yet. Devens played his shot in the dark, but is not safe and becomes the 8th member of the jury in a 6-0 vote.

The game continues…

The next morning, Tiffany is upset that Rizo didn’t play his idol and vents to Jonathan and Aubry saying he needs to go next. But this only worries Aubry about how threatening Tiffany is and she approaches Jonathan and Joe about getting rid of Tiffany.

But Jonathan turns around and tells Rizo that Tiffany is coming after him. He wants to bring everyone—except Cirie—together to vote her out. Jonathan expressly tells Rizo not to tell Cirie of the plan, so of course he goes and tells Cirie, but emphasizes that she can’t tell anyone she knows because they were so adamant she isn’t involved.

Another fight for immunity

Jeff welcomes our Final Six to the challenge arena which is set up for an obstacle course they need to transport blocks through before making a letter-block arch; another challenge that Joe performed very well in on his season—almost winning but completing it incorrectly and losing to Kamilla Karthigesu.

Joe and Jonathan are first to start transporting their block with Tiffany and Rizo right before before Aubry and Cirie join them, Joe and Jonathan are the first to reach the spelling section and work together to realize the word is “Inconceivable” but neither of them know how to spell it. Rizo and Aubry help Jonathan and Joe, the plan just to beat Tiffany.

Aubry barely even starts her puzzle, helping Joe spell the word. The only person not looking at anyone else’s puzzle or getting help is Tiffany and it seems to work in her favor as she wins immunity and earns a spot in the Final Five.

Final fan vote

At the commercial break, Jeff announces there’s one final fan vote category that will be revealed at the finale. This week, he invites fans to vote for their favorite player of the season who will be awarded a prize from Sia, who had given away the same award and money for many years before the new era.

Shuffling and scuffling

Back at camp with Tiffany wearing the immunity necklace, Aubry connects with Rizo who reveals that he’s 100% playing his idol tonight. But they are on the same page about getting rid of Cirie finally, though he’s worried about her finding out and pulling something.

Cirie however, knows everyone is coming for her with Tiffany now out of the running, she needs to come up with a plan to change the votes over to Aubry. She turns to Jonathan to throw Aubry under the bus in the hope of manipulating him that he can’t trust Aubry. She tells him that Aubry told her about the Tiffany vote—when in fact it was Rizo.

Now Jonathan is pulling Joe in to try and get rid of Aubry, fully believing Cirie. When they approach Rizo with this information, he can’t tell them he was actually the rat, but he needs them not against Aubry so they’ll help him blindside Cirie.

Who else was voted out of Survivor 50 episode 12?

Jeff asks which of the remaining players is surprised they’re still in the game and everyone raises their hands. Rizo pipes up that tonight isn’t a “Rick Devens” vote (aka, a unanimous vote). Aubry says the tensions are at 99% and this vote is do-or-die. Jeff asks Aubry and Cirie about what it means to make it this far multiple times—which others sitting with them can’t relate to. They both agree that nothing changes through each visit to Tribal Council; they always feel like they’re fighting for their life.

Rizo doesn’t play his idol knowing it’s between Aubry or Cirie. And in a 4-2 vote, Cirie Fields becomes the 9th member of the jury. She thanks Jeff for the adventure of a lifetime, giving him a hug before he snuffs her torch and letting her say, “The Tribe Has Spoken.”

Next Time on Survivor…

We’re down to the Final Five as our players walk into the finale of Survivor 50. Next Wednesday, May 20th, a winner will be crowned and $2 million will be awarded to the castaway who managed to outwit, outplay, and outlast. Who will that be? We don’t know for certain, but right now it seems like Aubry, Tiffany, and Rizo need to figure out how to get rid of each other in order for one of them to be sitting at the end with Joe and Jonathan.
