It's a big day for Survivor news! Not only did we learn that Survivor 51 is officially starting production this week in Fiji, but CBS also confirmed the premiere window for the next season of the hit reality TV series hosted by Jeff Probst.
On Wednesday, April 15, CBS revealed its upcoming fall schedule and confirmed Survivor 51 will premiere this fall on CBS and Paramount+. In addition, the network also revealed Survivor is staying in its current time slot of 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday nights.

Survivor fans who have been tuning in for the last 16 or so years have always known Survivor airs at 8 p.m. on Wednesday nights. I think we were all expecting to see Survivor 51 return this fall in that 8 p.m. slot on Wednesdays, but hey, it's great to have confirmation. A day may come where the courage of CBS fails and moves Survivor to a different night or time, but it is not this day.
Usually, CBS waits until May to reveal its schedule during its upfronts presentation every May, so it's a little earlier than expected.
Unfortunately, CBS has not revealed the official premiere date for Survivor 51. We're likely a few months away from learning that. We usually have to wait until July or August until that premiere date gets announced, but it's possible we could learn it earlier. We'll be sure to keep fans in the loop down the homestretch of Survivor 50 and throughout upfronts season.
Even with Survivor 51 without a premiere date yet, Survivor fans should know when to expect the next season. Every odd-numbered Survivor season since Survivor's fifth season, Thailand, has premiered in mid to late September.
Look, I'm not a big gambler, but I'm nearly positive that Survivor 51 will premiere at the end of September and run through December just like every odd-numbered season since season 5.
If that's the case, we're going to have quite a long break between seasons. The Survivor 50 finale is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, so we'll have about a four-month break like usual. Obviously, the show needs that long break to stay on schedule, but it's always a bummer for fans.
