In a bit of lighter fare than we’ve seen the past week, Jeff Probst went on “Harry” to offer up five of his favorite moments in Survivor history.

Hey, did you know that Harry Connick Jr. has a syndicated daytime talk show? I was just as surprised as you were, but with Jeff Probst in attendance, it seemed like a good a time as any to come on in and check out what the fuss is all about.

With it being an interview spot for Survivor Game Changers ahead of the two-hour merge episode, future ex-talk show host Harry Connick Jr. asked current ex-talk show host Jeff Probst about his top five Survivor moments in history. While Probst will rarely be so definitive on the record, he did offer five moments from the show that he thinks are “good,” and considering the man who’s offering the insight, you may predict where some of these are headed.

First off is perennial bromance partner “Boston Rob” Mariano winning Survivor Redemption Island, as Probst believes he, to a man, represents the show’s nature. He even brought up his Machiavellian approach to gameplay, something I would quite agree with. “Masterminding a cult” is a good descriptor, too. Another winner he’s glad made it through was John Cochran for the opposite reason; showing literally anybody as weak as Cochran can inspire and create greatness.

The other three moments were historic strategic/gameplay-oriented moments, showing Jeff Probst’s ability to respect new gameplay as well as the classics. The first he mentioned was the final immunity challenge from Survivor Palau and the challenges brought on by lighting an 11-hour challenge in the middle of the jungle at night. The second came in the form of Jonny Fairplay’s infamous grandma lie, and the final one came in the Black Widow Brigade’s ability to convince Erik to give up his immunity necklace in Survivor Micronesia.

While the Harry producers counted it down as if they were Jeff Probst’s definitive all-time Survivor moments, for all intents and purposes, he offered some memorable moments from the show’s 34-season history. Also, he fist-bumps one specific camera operator before every tribal council. That’s weird, no?

Still, it was quite refreshing to take a trip down memory lane as we head towards Survivor Game Changers episodes 8 and 9, where yet another gameplay twist or two awaits the cast.
