Determined to prove the “haters” wrong, nefarious repeat runner-up Russell Hantz has produced the first episode of The Russell Hantz Show podcast.

Man, you think when you prove yourself to be a success outside reality television, you’d give your hangups about your gameplay a rest after a while. Clearly, Russell Hantz thinks otherwise and is finally ready to share his thoughts about Survivor and his life inside and out of it.

In a move that will certainly allow him to prove himself as a deserving winner in a future season (and not, say, seal away the guarantee he’ll never play Survivor again), Russell Hantz has released the very first episode of The Russell Hantz Show podcast. It’s up on iTunes, and boy, is it a doozy.

Of course, any player willing to go on the record and detail the behind-the-scenes stories of CBS’ production is going to have some inherent educational value. You get a great insight into casting and the fact he thought he clearly won Survivor Samoa before Shambo called him up. The idea that the casting agents wanted Russell Hantz to be a bit funnier than he was giving them (and appreciated his foul-mouth retort) does show a bit about how the sausage is made.

However, it shortly unravels as The Russell Hantz Show goes off the rails about halfway in. Clearly uneasy with speaking his story by himself to a microphone, he yells at someone who asks for him 24 minutes in. From there, it only gets worse, implying that everybody on the jury was “snowflakes” for having their feelings hurt (despite going on a diatribe about how he deserved to win and everybody liked him but they were also bitter and oh no, I’ve gone crosseyed).

The funniest part is that Russell Hantz seems to believe that players with different political views were responsible for him not winning, despite the fact he said he was liked so much on Samoa (while attributing it to his social game skills). The only problem there is how much he complained about Laura Morett, someone who belongs to the same political party as him, was enemy #1 to him post-merge and helped lead the jury to his loss the first time around.

There’s a bit of schadenfreude involved in this first episode, but it takes a certain individual to look at the plethora of former Survivor players with their own podcast and think, “you know what, I should listen to this guy who has been crying about his loss like the snowflake he accuses others of being some more!”
