In a spur-of-the-moment reveal, Jeff Probst explains what would have happened if the Sole Survivor vote ever ends in a tie.

Survivor reunions have entertainment and educational levels that range from barely relevant to “actively wasting time until the next season’s theme reveal.” However, one simple question that Jeff Probst asks every single reunion special suddenly took an interesting turn in the Survivor Game Changers finale reunion.

Jeff asked the jury what would have happened if Brad Culpepper had taken Tai Trang to the Final Tribal Council over Sarah Lacina (the 7-3 winner). Oddly enough, for the first time in the show’s history, this hypothetical vote would have ended in a 5-5 tie. Usually, when Jeff asks this question, he knows the answer and uses it to taunt the runner-up into a future appearance.

As such, Jeff Probst opened up in a moment of honesty by revealing some of the rules behind a tie vote. Had Brad and Tai encountered a 5-5 tie in an alternate history Game Changers, the third-place player (Troyzan, in this case) would confer with the jury and cast the deciding vote.

In this case, Troyzan revealed that he would have voted for Brad Culpepper as your Season 34 winner (while joking about him finally being important to the season’s story). In a season full of twists, that would have certainly been the biggest yet.

This is just one possible scenario for the tie vote, as certain seasons have different jury counts and different numbers of players in the Final Tribal Council. What would have happened if a Final 2 vote came down to a tie? What would happen if a Final Three game ended in a 3-3-3 tie?
