With Survivor Game Changers coming to a close, Dalton Ross looked into the vault to bring up old Heroes vs. Villains behind-the-scenes footage.
So here we are; looking down the barrel of a lengthy offseason. Survivor Game Changers just wrapped things up, awarding a deserving player the title of Sole Survivor and handing them a million-dollar check. It’ll likely be until September before we get to see another episode of 39-days-based competition air once more, and everyone handles the downtime in different ways.
While some of us will be re-watching older seasons, Dalton Ross of Entertainment Weekly has been diving deep into the archives and bringing up some of the footage on Twitter. Most of it comes from Heroes vs. Villains, though, offering up some hot new perspectives from behind the scenes.
Something that everyone might not know about is the alternates for the season. Natalie Bolton was a female alternate, going so far as to fly out to Samoa to get her cast photo taken where everyone else had their photos taken. (Erik Reichenbach was a male alternate, but he didn’t show up to Samoa)

Some of the images and videos he’s posted are quite funny in one way or another. The cast photo for Heroes vs. Villains saw 20 players walk in front of him and line up to the shoot location, with everyone stone-faced and silent. It looks like they’re all about to murder each other, but in reality, they all have a strict gag order preventing them from pre-gaming in discussions.
Other footage from Samoa include Boston Rob, Sandra and Tyson hanging out in the water, talking quite frankly, Parvati and Courtney going out to fish (Parvati looked hilarious walking in flippers), Jeff Probst breaking out the falsetto to talk about Nicaragua’s Medallion of Power and Stephanie dislocating her shoulder in HvV’s first challenge.
