An okay newbie player who redeemed herself and thrived in her second chance, Survivor’s own Kelley Wentworth celebrates her 31st birthday today.

Player: Kelley Wentworth
Occupation: Marketing Manager
Hometown: Seattle, WA
Seasons: San Juan del Sur, Cambodia
Tribes: Hunahpu (Aqua Buff), Coyopa (Orange Buff) in SJDS / Ta Keo (Green Buff), Bayon (Magenta Buff), Orkun (Orange Buff) in Cambodia
Finished: 14/18 in San Juan del Sur, 4/20 in Cambodia

Sometimes in returnee seasons, you get a player or two that isn’t quite on the same stage in relevancy or Survivor recognition as the others. Quite like Sierra Dawn Thomas sneaking into Survivor Game Changers, Kelley Wentworth went out quietly in her first season (Survivor San Juan del Sur) and ended up making it through the fan vote to get on and play in Cambodia – Second Chances.

Knowing that she would have to make herself and her fans proud by showing off the kind of player she can be without having to care for her father’s wellbeing in the game, Kelley Wentworth formed small, tight bonds and quietly navigated her way through Cambodia. However, shortly after the merge, she received nine votes and was voted out as the second member of the jury.

At least, that was the plan.

You see, had Jeremy not put the target on the girls in the minority alliance, Stephen Fishbach might have gone home. He steered towards targeting one of them, and it was Kelley Wentworth who was seen as the biggest threat of the minority. Convinced of the strength of their numbers, nine people voted against Kelley.

That’s when the unthinkable happens: Kelley pulls out an idol, negating a hilarious string of nine votes against her, followed by the first vote for Andrew Savage. In an iconic but bittersweet moment, Savage went home instead.

Kelley would go on to a prestigious fourth-place finish, which is quite strong despite the overwhelming odds against her. In that Cambodia season, she showed that she had the mental fortitude to 180 her entire game, strategize and socialize with the best, win individual immunity twice and snatch the first-ever idol hidden in a challenge event.
