Shane Powers of Survivor: Panama and one of the most interesting players of all time appears on the new Tyler, The Creator album.

There have been numerous players in Survivor history that left a lasting impression. However, it’s the truly great or greatly eccentric characters that we never forget. Without question, Shane Powers from Survivor Panama, Exile Island is among those unforgettable players.

Shane was one of the indomitable figures of the 12th season of the show. He lasted 33 days before being the 11th person voted out in the game won by Aras Baskauskas. More than for his strong performance, though, Shane is more commonly known as “the player who went through severe nicotine withdrawals on television”. He went on Survivor quitting smoking cold turkey after smoking multiple packs per day.

That was where his eccentricities began on the show, but he continued throughout. He was an intense player, and a guy who felt like an outcast. He was both hard to watch and lovable all in one mixed bag of bottled-up emotion.

However interesting Shane was on Survivor, though, the Panama alum may have more interesting things to do outside of the game. Namely, he appears on the upcoming Tyler, the Creator album Scum F*** Flower Boy.

No, Powers isn’t rapping a hot feature verse on the new rap album from the leader of Odd Future. However, he does appear on three separate tracks — “Boredom”, “I Ain’t Got Time”, “Sometimes” — doing voiceover work (h/t to Reddit). You can listen to “Boredom” on Spotify below (Warning: NSFW language):

This isn’t the first time that Shane and Tyler, the Creator have worked together, either. In the video for 2013’s “Tamale” by the rapper, Powers appears as an angry golfer at about the 1:00 mark (Warning for NSFW language again):

What’s more, the rapper and Survivor alumnus clearly have a good relationship. The often vocal Tyler, the Creator tweeted this back in 2015:

More from Surviving Tribal

In his post Survivor life — where he can smoke cigarettes freely once again — Shane Powers is actually a radio host in Los Angeles, overseeing and hosting The Shane Show. Considering that’s the voiceover role he plays on the tracks for Tyler, the Creator, that makes sense. It also explains how the two parties know one another.

With that being said, it’s still somewhat surreal to hear him on the tracks at all, especially for Survivor fans. Most would agree that the show and Tyler, the Creator are two worlds that would almost never collide. And yet they have for this new album. Tyler, the Creator’s Scum F*** Flower Boy is currently set to release on July 21, 2017. If for no other reason than to hear Powers, you should probably check it out.

Meanwhile, we can only hope that Shane one day makes his return to Survivor. He’s too delightfully odd to have not been brought back yet.
