We're less than two months away from the Survivor 48 premiere on CBS and Paramount+ on Wednesday, Feb. 26. As we get closer to the premiere of the new episode, we're expecting to learn a lot more about the new season, including which Survivor 47 player will join Jeff Probst and Jay Wolff as host of the On Fire with Jeff Probst podcast.
New episodes of the On Fire with Jeff Probst podcast are released immediately after each new episode of Survivor. The trio, which included Survivor 46 runner-up Charlie Davis for Survivor 47, talk about the new episode, and all the ins and outs of the game, from three perspectives: the producer (Jeff), the superfan (Jay), and the player.
We picked three players from Survivor 47 who would be great cohosts of the podcast, along with Jeff and Jay!
Rachel LaMont
Honestly, there's probably nobody better to host to join On Fire with Jeff Probst for Survivor 48 than Rachel LaMont. The Survivor 47 winner clearly is a super-fan of the game, has a deep historical knowledge about the game, and put on a show with some of her moves in Survivor 47. If we're looking for a player with unique insight, Rachel has to be the pick! Some of Rachel's moves were revolutionary in Survivor, especially with how she played her Shot in the Dark to test the tribe and see if they were targetting her.
Along with that, Rachel is super charismatic and well-spoken. She wouldn't have a problem offering up her take on what's happening in Survivor 48. I think she could explain some of the intricacies of the game in a unique way almost no other players from Survivor 47 could. On top of that, Rachel has a clear rapport with Jeff Probst and Jay Wolff, the cohosts of the pod, and that was very apparent during Rachel's interview on the podcast after the Survivor 47 finale.
Rome Cooney
If you're looking for someone to bring the energy to the On Fire with Jeff Probst podcast, Rome Cooney has to be the pick! No Survivor 47 player was able to match Rome's energy and enthusiasm during his time in the game. I'm confident he could have kept it up the whole time had he made it to the end. He was easily the best narrator of Survivor 47. He had so many epic interview moments! So, there are a lot of positives to having Rome as the cohost of On Fire with Jeff Probst from that perspective. Survivor fans want someone with that passion to share the ins and outs of the game, as well as their experience on the previous season.
Rome is also an esports commentator, so he's very used to being on camera, sharing his perspective, and commenting on what he's seeing. That experience would be great on the podcast. Obviously, Jeff and Jay do a great job making the player-host comfortable, but if Rome already has that experience, perhaps it could take the show to a new level.
Genevieve Mushaluk
From a strategy perspective, there were three players who I thought were the best of Survivor 47: Rachel LaMont, Genevieve Mushaluk, and Caroline Vidmar. Rachel obviously won the season, but I do think Geneieve and Caroline, had things turned out a little differently, would have each had a great chance to win Survivor 47 if they made the Final Three. They played great games!
It just makes sense, then, to bring on Genevieve as the cohost of On Fire with Jeff Probst for Survivor 48 to comment on the strategic aspects of the game. Genevieve just thought about Survivor differently than many of the Survivor 47 players. She was willing to do whatever, cut whoever to get to the end. But, we also saw a very vulnerable side of Genevieve when the guilt of hurting Teeny or some of her other alliance members started to add up. I would like to hear more about that because we don't often get the opportunity to understand what it must be like for some of these players.
So, that's the shortlist of the Survivor 47 players who would make great hosts on the On Fire with Jeff Probst podcast for Survivor 48. With the season only a few weeks away, we should be learning who will be joining Jeff and Jay soon.
