Joe Hunter has a unique reaction Rick Devens' big move in Survivor 50 episode 9 sneak peek

Though Joe Hunter did ultimately end up writing down Coach Wade’s name, what did he think about how Tribal Council went down during his second Double Duo twist?

Despite all the chaos Survivor 50 has brought so far, I think it’s safe to say none has been talked about as much as what went down during Tribal Council in episode 8, “Double the Fun, Double the Demise.”

During the first combined elimination in American Survivor history, Chrissy Hofbeck and Coach Wade joined Dee Valladares on the jury which may or may not have been the result of Rick Devens pretending to find an idol in the middle of Tribal Council.

But before all that went down, when Cirie Fields looped Joe Hunter into their voting plans—per Rizo Velovic’s request so he didn’t feel blindsided—he was adamant he would never write down Coach’s name since he gave his word on that promise. Yet that night, he contributed to the vote and helped eliminate two of his closer allies.

And in a new sneak peek for episode 9, “I Deserve All of This,” we see exactly what Joe thought about the entire scene that went down at Tribal Council as he discusses strategy moving forward with Cirie and Ozzy Lusth. Watch the full clip below.

As Ozzy goes into the significance of Devens making that move in front of everyone and how it just painted a bigger target on his back, making it easier for them all to vote him out next, Joe agrees that Devens is not someone who they can work with. He then goes on to reenact what he felt the moment looked like from his perspective.

Sending Cirie into a fit of laughter, Joe proceeds to throw his body around, pretending to be Devens flailing as he runs to grab the “immunity idol” out from under their noses at Tribal Council. Devens performance confused Joe at first—he really didn’t understand what he was doing until it was explained with the package in his hand.

After the fun, Cirie continues to prove why she’s one of the top socially strategic players in Survivor history. In a confessional, she shares that Devens idol reveal was the cherry on top of Chrissy and Coach being eliminated. Removing two threats and revealing a new one, keeping the target off her back despite the fact that she orchestrated the entire vote upon winning her way back from Exile Island.

Therapy Carousel Cirie
“Therapy Carousel” – Castaways are forced to go back to the drawing board and reassess their alliances. One castaway’s attempt to publicly set the record straight, sends shockwaves through the rest of camp. The reward challenge is a smash hit as tribes must shatter all other’s hopes of coming in first. Then, differences in work ethic cause strain among tribemates on SURVIVOR 50, Wednesday, March 4 (8:00-9:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and

And now, thanks to her alliance with Rizo, she also has Joe as a number despite breaking up his alliance last week. With Joe comes Jonathan Young’s vote, easily, as he won’t know what to do and will need someone to follow. And Cirie is Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick’s only remaining old school trusted ally in the game, ensuring her as a number as well.

But Cirie also helped save Devens and Aubry Bracco last week and everyone knows it. So she’s secured the trust of them, Christian Hubicki, Emily Flippen, Tiffany Ervin—and everyone else at camp as well. She has all the power in the game currently to make a move in any direction she wants. So while Devens might be the easiest target, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be the one going home at the end of episode 9 because in Survivor, it’s not about doing what’s easy…it’s about doing what will get you to the Final Three.
