Survivor 47 episode 10 preview: Loyal to the Soil
By Bryce Olin
There's a new episode of Survivor this week, and it's probably the biggest and most important episode of the season to date.
Survivor 47 episode 10, "Loyal to the Soil," airs at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Nov. 20, on CBS and Paramount+. Based on the episode preview and sneak peek, this episode might be the most brutal episode of the season so far!
After the devastating blindside of Sol Yi in episode 9, Teeny Chirichillo is definitely taking the vote quite hard. Sol was one of Teeny's main allies in the game, and he was voted out after Genevieve Mushaluk, another of Sol and Teeny's allies, flipped to work with other players to take out Sol. Now, the deck is stacked against Genevieve and Teeny, if the players vote along tribe lines, which hasn't exactly happened since the merge.
Survivor 47 episode 10 synopsis
CBS shared the synopsis of "Loyal to the Soil," and we shared it below:
" In a SURVIVOR first, castaways attempt a shocking negotiation for rice. Then, teams must have their head in the game during a tough reward challenge, on SURVIVOR..."
All right, so up first is the rice negotiation! That's interesting. We don't get much information, but it looks like the players are going to have to give up something of value in the game to get some more rice. With only so many days left in the game, I don't think Jeff Probst is going to just be out here giving it away. It's officially crunch time with only nine players left.
As for the reward challenge, it appears from the images released for episode 10 that the players have to literally use their heads to move a ball in the challenge! That does not look or sound fun at all.
Survivor 47 episode 10 clip
So far, we've seen the episode preview at the end of episode 9, and that packed in a lot of information. Then, on Tuesday, Nov. 19, CBS shared the sneak peek at episode 10, so we're going to break down both of those now.
In the preview, which is only 30 seconds-ish, we see Sam pledging to someone to do whatever it takes to stay in the game and cause drama. He says, "I'm gonna get my revenge and twist the knife while I'm at it."
Then, the focus shifts to Sue Smey, who is fed up of Kyle Ostwald. She uses a lot of colorful language that we can't share here, but you get the sentiment. She wants him out of the game. Will it happen? We'll just have to wait and see.
But, that's basically all we get to see in the preview.
Now, for the sneak peek, it's all about Genevieve consoling Teeny and feeling devastated by how she's reacting to the move to take out Sol.
"I knew there would be fallout from the Sol vote," Genevieve said in an interview. "The fallout's name is Teeny. But I did not anticipate the fallout Teeny feeling like it was intentionally done to humiliate her."
It's obvious that Teeny never wanted to vote out Sol, but it's clear that Teeny felt like there was no other choice. You don't want to be the person who goes against the group. You don't want to put a target on your back as an easy vote.
"And, I've tried very hard not to have any emotional connections to people in this game because it makes it harder to play," Genevieve said, holding back tears. "And, when you hurt someone and see them so distressed and know that it's entirely your fault, it doesn't feel like a fun game anymore."
It's hard not to feel empathy for Teeny and Genevieve. Survivor is a challenging game in many ways, and one of the often overlooked parts of the game is that eventually you probably have to betray your allies who have become friends in some way to progress further in the game. We've seen players vote out their own mom in Survivor! It's meant to test the players, as Jeff Probst says all the time.
I want to know how Genevieve and Teeny will respond? Will they let this issue get the best of them and distract them? Or, will they use these moments as fuel?
Something similar happened in Survivor 46 when Ben Katzman voted for his friend and ally Kenzie Petty. He said that he had a moment of confusion and didn't know what to do, but it hurt Kenzie, who went on to win Survivor 46.
Who is in danger in Survivor 47 episode 10?
Clearly, something has to give in Survivor 47! Sue has been wanting Kyle out for some time now, but he's won three of the four immunity challenges since the tribes merged. Kyle seems like the biggest physical threat left in the game, and it would make sense for the remaining players to target Kyle right now.
Genevieve and Teeny better be careful now, too. I don't know if Genevieve is as insulated now that Sol is out of the game, numbers-wise. I don't think Teeny is a threat at all, though, so she will probably remain in the game.
We've seen the former Tuku members target Sam and Rachel LaMont, too, so they are definitely in need of some protection from their allies to stay in the game.
I don't know why, but there's something off with Sue. It might be too early in the game for Caroline Vidmar and Gabe Ortis to turn on Sue, but when you go hard after one player like she has with Kyle, one can become blind to the rest of the game happening around them. That can be a liability!
We'll see what happens in Survivor 47 episode 10 on Wednesday, Nov. 20!
We also learned some important information about Survivor 47 this week! CBS has changed the Survivor 47 finale into a two-part finale that will air over consecutive weeks, Dec. 11 and Dec. 18. This is the first time ever Survivor's finale will be two parts!
