We have a very awkward situation developing in Fiji. Survivor fans are not happy with the latest episode of Survivor 50, "Knife to the Heart." In fact, the episode, which featured a very large cameo by country music star Zac Brown, is the lowest-rated episode in 50 seasons of Survivor on IMDb, according to Reality TV News/Updates on X.
In the episode, Brown hosted the winning tribe from the immunity challenge for a spearfish grill and country music concert at the Sanctuary. It felt, in many ways, less like an episode of Survivor and more like an episode of Zac Brown's personal Fyre Festival. There was probably more food for the Survivor players than at the actual Fyre Festival, though.
According to IMDB, "Knife to the Heart" boasts a 4.2/10 rating, which is the worst mark in the show's history. Most Survivor episodes usually get a 7-ish rating. The best episodes score in the 9s. A 4.2? That's wild! Who could have seen this coming? Well, just about everyone!

Since the celebrity guests were announced, it was clear that this decisions was not in the fans' hands. To sum up the frustration with my own feelings, we love Survivor because of the players, the epic moves, and heroic (and villainous) performances to outwit, outplay, and outlast the others. We enjoy watching them interact and hang out with each other, too, but the gameplay and intrigue is what we tune in to watch. We do not tune in to watch non-Survivor players spearfish with like a bazooka or whatever that situation was. We don't tune in for country music.
So, when there's an episode that feels 50% spearfishing and 50% country music AND that takes away time from literally the funniest, most entertaining player getting blindsided in basically historic fashion, we're not very happy. That's the case here.
Honestly, I feel a little bit bad for Zac Brown. He just wanted to come hang out on the show he loves, but this is not the time, the environment, or the situation that anyone wanted to see him in. It sucks to say it like that, but that's just the truth. Worse, Mr. Beast is coming to Fiji later this season. The last thing anyone wants to see on Survivor 50, a historic season with amazing players, is another celebrity with no connection to the game.

There's a decent chance the next celebrity appearance will actually be rated lower than Brown's episode, but we'll just have to wait and see how it plays out.
To make it all worse, there are so many players who are basically getting no screen time this season. Literally, Brown has been on screen more, this season, than a handful of players who are still in the game!
With all the hype for Survivor 50, it's just a huge miss that the show veered in this direction instead of giving fans what they actually want to see. Now, we have a season with too many players and too many
