Survivor 47 has been full of blindsides so far. Almost every single person voted out of Survivor 47 has been via a blindside. Jeff Probst explained why the Shot in the Dark helps make that happen on an earlier episode of the On Fire with Jeff Probst podcast with hosts Charlie Davis and Jay Wolff.

On the new episode of the podcast following Survivor 47 episode 9, which saw Sol Yi voted out and blindsided to become the second member of the jury, Probst shared that there's one blindside from Survivor 47 that everyone is still talking to him about even weeks after it happened.

And, that player is Anika Dhar, who was blindsided by Sam Phalen and Sierra Wright on the Gata tribe in episode 5.

"It's been a long time since fans have commented to me on a blindside like they have with Anika's," Probst said. "I was just at dinner the other night and 20 people were there. And, they said they loved it [Anika's blindside], and they said they loved it because it was a real reaction."

Probst said that he didn't doubt that people were moved by Anika's reaction. Probst recalled, "Itwas a full minute after I read the vote before she could even go get her torch." He also mentioned that he wasn't sure that other players were faking their reaction because they didn't respond the way Anika did.

Prior to that answer, Wolff asked Probst how he felt about how everyone reacted following the immunity challenge loss where they paired up. Probst shared how he loves this new era of the game that continues to challenge people but that it also allows players to learn something about themselves, disappoint themselves, and then hopefully make friends with the people who went on this journey with them.

Probst also added that the game will also be devastating at times because people care so much, like Anika Dhar who sat for a full minute after she was blindsided by the Gata tribe in episode 5.

Probst also asked Davis what he thought about that and if he felt like there was pressure to be polite after getting voted out in the new era of Survivor.

Overall, I do think Anika had the most intriguing reaction because it was such a surprise to her. It was such a betrayal because of who Andy Rueda was and how he played the game. Anika probably thought there was no possible way that Sam and Sierra would actually keep him around instead of her, especially Sierra. Honestly, it was probably the wrong move to take out Andy for Sam and Sierra because since that move, the Gata players have been scrambling or blindsided in every episode since that vote.

Kishan Patel and Rome Cooney were probably equally shocked to be leaving the game. Kishan was on the cusp of making a great move, and for Rome, it was clear that he thought he was in control of the game. They had pretty visceral reactions, as well, but they seemed able to move on.

Sierra, on the other hand, had a similar reaction to Anika after she was voted out in episode 8, but because the vote was split between her and Sam, she had more time to digest what happened.

With Anika on a small tribe, there was seconds between each vote instead of a minutes-long break when her life in the game was on the line. That's why, in my opinion, her reaction was so much more pointed than even Kishan or Sierra, who had a lot of time to digest what was happening to them.

As mentioned, there's been some wild blindsides on Survivor 47, and I don't think we're done yet!

Survivor 47 episode 10 airs on Wednesday, Nov. 20 on CBS and Paramount+!
