Survivor 47 episode 11 date, time, and preview: Flipping the Win Switch
By Bryce Olin
With only eight players and four episodes left in Survivor 47, there's no clear favorite, which means the next few episodes, starting with Survivor 47 episode 11, "Flipping the Win Switch," are more important than any other episodes of the series so far.
After another fairly one-sided vote to send Gabe Ortis home in episode 10, the game is as wide-open as it's been all season. All we're waiting for is for somebody to "flip the win switch" and take control. That might happen this week!
Is Survivor 47 new tonight?
Yes, there is a new episode of Survivor 47 on Wednesday, Nov. 27. There's always a little confusion about whether or not Survivor is new the night before Thanksgiving, but lately, like for almost as long as I can remember, Survivor is usually new on Thanksgiving Eve. It's been a while since they skipped a week and doubled up on episodes or did a behind-the-scenes episode on CBS.
You can watch Survivor 47 episode 11, "Flipping the Win Switch," at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
There are only three episodes after episode 11. The final two episodes are technically the two-part Survivor 47 finale, which will air on Wednesday, Dec. 11, and Wednesday, Dec. 18.
Survivor 47 episode 11 preview
Based on the Next Time on Survivor preview and the synopsis for the episode, fans should be in for a treat in Survivor 47 episode 11!
We shared the synopsis, via CBS:
"After 20 days in the game, battle lines are drawn, and the stakes cannot be higher. The winner of a classic immunity challenge will guarantee their spot in the final seven, on SURVIVOR..."
Battle lines drawn? A classic immunity challenge? I think we know which one it is, too, based on the new images and preview from the episode.
It looks like the challenge will be the one where the players balance blocks that spell out a word on a swinging platform with a long rope. The players are only allowed to take one block at a time but need to keep enough tension on the rope to hold the platform steady. I don't know what the challenge is called, but it's one of the most fun and intense immunity challenges. At any moment, the blocks can fall over, which means this challenge should come down to the wire.
In the preview for episode 11 that aired at the end of episode 10, we see Kyle Ostwald talking about why he probably isn't someone that anyone would want to bring to The Final Three because a "family man" usually is someone people vote for.
Then, we see Sam Phalen discussing why he thinks Rachel LaMont has "something up her sleeve." Does he know about her idol? Did she accidentally tip him off? They've played together since the beginning of the game. Perhaps, he's noticed a change in her behavior after finding the idol. I always wonder about stuff like that.
Then, in the final clip, we see Andy Rueda, Caroline Vidmar, Sue Smey, Rachel, and Teeny Chirichillo locking in a new alliance, the "Underdogs" alliance. Well, well, well. That leaves Sam, Kyle, and Genevieve Mushaluk on the outs, but is that alliance real? I highly doubt it if Survivor is willing to show it to us this early. It's definitely a misdirection. That's what I'm thinking anyway.
Kyle comes to terms with playing aggressively in Survivor 47 in new sneak peek
In the sneak peek at Survivor 47 episode 11, Kyle explains why he had such a hard time playing emotionally early in the game. He took a shot in episode 10 in voting out Gabe, and he has to continue playing that way, leaving the emotions out of it. That's what he tells Genevieve anyway. He also mentions that someone has been "pitching" his name throughout the game, so he's not loyal to them. It sounds like he's talking about Caroline and Sue, the other Tuku players left in the game.
Kyle also explains that his upbringing in and out of foster care forced him to be someone that he didn't want to be. And, it sounds like he wants to use that to his advantage over the final episodes.
"In my younger years when I was being put through the wringer left and right, in foster cares, in different school systems, sometimes I had to be somebody I didn't want to be," Kyle said in an interview. "And, over the years, I've let that part of me go dormant, but I do have the ability to lie. I do have the ability to manipulate, and I do have the ability to deceive."
Oh, I like this version of Kyle. This sounds like someone who is ready to make it to the end and win. We've already seen it in the challenges with the most immunity wins EVER through 10 episodes. But, if Kyle can put a few moves together with some aggressive social or strategic gameplay, I like his chances.
Survivor 47 episode 11 airs on Wednesday, Nov. 27, on CBS and Paramount+!
