Survivor 47 episode 9 date, time, and preview: Nightmare Fuel
By Bryce Olin
It's really getting down to it on Survivor 47! We have our first member of the jury, Sierra Wright, who was voted out in episode 8. Heading into Survivor 47 episode 9, "Nightmare Fuel," things are getting really interesting!
So far, we've seen some epic blindsides. I'm expecting another in episode 9, and so should you!
Survivor 47 episode 9, "Nightmare Fuel," airs at 8 p.m. EST / 7 p.m. C on Wednesday, Nov. 13. You can watch the new episode on CBS and Paramount+, but you do need the Paramount+ with Showtime plan to watch live. If you don't have that plan, you have to wait until Thursday morning to watch the new episode of Survivor 47 on Paramount+.
I watch Survivor on the West Coast, so I miss the first reaction and discourse about the episode. I'm also really good at avoiding spoilers. You just have to stay off social media or mute Survivor keywords, but it's hard to do that when so many people are watching and talking about the episode, especially with so many blindsides.

Survivor 47 episode 9 preview
So far, we've seen one episode preview and then two clips from Survivor 47 episode 9 so far!
In the first preview, which aired immediately after episode 8, chaos is coming to Survivor 47! We see a lot of important information being thrown around, but here are the big moments:
- Sam Phalen pledges that he's going on a "vendetta" in episode 9 after his ally Sierra was targeted in episode 8.
- We also see the former Lavo tribe players causing chaos. Genevieve Mushaluk reveals to Sue that Sol is targetting Gabe, and Sue says that she wants a "Blindside on Sol."
- Then, we see Sol telling others that he thinks "Sue is the best target," which contradicts what we hear Sol saying in another clip from the episode. Perhaps, Gabe Ortis wins the immunity challenge? We'll see.
- Then, we see Teeny Chirichillo throwing Kyle Ostwald's name out before Genevieve says, "This is an absolute mess."
- Finally, we see Sam begging Andy Rueda to "blow up everyone's game."
That is absolutely wild! And, it's way, way more dramatic than the two sneak peeks from episode 9.
In the first sneak peek, Andy and Rachel LaMont agree to work with each other after playing the game rather separately after the early days of the Gata tribe. With both players on the relative bottom right now, it makes sense that they work together to make some big moves.
Then, in the second sneak peek, we see Sam, Teeny, Genevieve, and Sol talking about the vote to eliminate Sierra. Sam is open to working with the Lavo players, and he throws out a name: Gabe Ortis, who he claims is very close with the former Tuku players, Sue Smey and Caroline Vidmar.
In an interview, Sol shared his thoughts on potentially working with Sam down the line, and he also shared that he is interested in taking out Gabe.
"Even though I worked with Gabe last night to take out Sierra, I think that dude's a player," Sol said. "At some point, we need to get out Gabe, and that's what I'm trying to do."
What to expect in episode 9
Heading into episode 9, we know a lot about what's about to happen. CBS shared the synopsis for the episode, and it has a lot of important information:
"Castaways must choose wisely as they split themselves into pairs at a crucial multi-staged immunity challenge. The deck is stacked against castaways when they embark on a journey that can drastically affect their game. Then, different names are tossed out at camp as paranoia ensues, leading to another crazy tribal council, on SURVIVOR... "
So, there's another twist coming to the immunity challenge. They have to pair themselves off with other players. That's going to be interesting. Plus, there's another journey in episode 9. That could be huge for someone or devastating if they lose their vote.
It looks like we're headed for another massively chaotic tribal council in episode 9. This is a huge tribe compared to what the players have been used to. There are 10 players left right now. Before the vote to eliminate Sierra, there were issues, allegedly, getting the vote to move in one direction. Well, it actually went in two directions but for the same cause: breaking up Sierra and Sam's alliance.
In episode 9, there are a few alliances that are worth breaking up, and one is clearly the Gabe, Sue, and Caroline alliance that's getting stronger and stronger as they take out more potential threats. We also have three players from Lavo and three players from Gata. It makes sense that those six players would team up with Kyle to break up Caroline, Sue, and Gabe, but that's yet to really happen. By the looks of things, it looks like there are people in that former Lavo and Gata player pool who want to continue working with Sue and Caroline, and that's where that Sol blindside idea was thrown out.
Because we've seen Kyle win three immunity challenges, he seems like a fair target, but he wasn't mentioned outside of the episode preview. It could be a clue that he doesn't win immunity in episode 9.
Personally, I don't think Gabe or Sol are the players getting voted out in this episode. They might be in trouble down the line, but I don't think the show is going to spoil something like that. I would bet that Kyle is in more danger heading into the new episode. I would not be shocked to see the Gata and Lavo players come together to target Gabe, Sue, and Caroline, though. Maybe, this is one big misdirection to make that alliance think that it's Gabe, but it's actually Sue or Caroline? That'd be the move, I think, that could kickstart someone's resume.
We'll find out how it all goes down in Survivor 47 episode 9, "Nightmare Fuel," on Wednesday, Nov. 13!
