Survivor is now on a very long summer break (but we already know when Survivor 49 starts)

It's a good time to rewatch old seasons of Survivor because the show is taking a very long break before Survivor 49 starts.

Survivor 48is finally over! After a great season and avery deserving winner was crowned,Survivoris set for its longest break between seasons of its production cycle beforeSurvivor 49begins.

I hopeSurvivorfans are ready for a four-month break because that's exactly what's in store. AfterSurvivor 48came to an end on Wednesday, May 21, fans will be waiting until at least September untilSurvivor 49premieres on CBS and Paramount+.

While we don't know the premiere date forSurvivor 49yet, we do know thatSurvivor 49isconfirmed for a fall premiereon Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.

Jeff Probst also shared the first look atSurvivor 49during the After Show in the season finale.

While it's great to have the first look at the new season, it's still a bummer that fans have so long to wait between seasons. Survivor's winter break is a lot shorter than the summer break. For example, the gap betweenSurvivor 47and Survivor 48 was only a two-month break, basically. Survivor 47ended on Dec. 18, 2024.Survivor 48premiered on Feb. 26, 2025. We have at least double that untilSurvivor 49!

Looking at previous premiere dates for fall seasons ofSurvivor,we're probably looking at Sept. 17 or Sept. 24 as the premiere date forSurvivor 49.There's a small chance it could be bumped to Oct. 1, but I doubt they'll make us wait that long. I know it's just one more week, butSurvivorseasons almost never premiere in October. I can only count one October premiere in the show's first 48 seasons.

The good news is that we will probably be getting some bigSurvivorupdates in the meantime, especially withSurvivor 50looming.Jeff Probstconfirmed during the season finale that theSurvivor 50castwill be announced on Wednesday, May 28,which we learned fromInside Survivoris the day the cast heads to Fiji to start filming.

Then, we'll start to see theSurvivor 49cast confirmed later this summer. I'm sure it will leak online long before that, and we'll be sure to share all the updates regarding the next season. It's guaranteed to be a good one!

Then, we'll getSurvivor 49this fall. I'm assuming that the season will air from September to December again, likeSurvivor 47.Up next, we'll see theSurvivor 50premiere in February 2026. That's already been confirmed by CBS.

We'll share more updates aboutSurvivor 49when we find out. For now, settle in and rewatch some old seasons ofSurvivorwhile you wait.
